Depends on the new pitching coach. It's to early too tell. We'll know better by late March early April. Maybe late april

Yeah I can ask the PM about the project... last I checked in with him was post pandemic and the base option was well over $100m pre pandemic pricing with his guess being base reno would now be over $200m with the pricing we are seeing now. Pretty much every campus capital project is going to VE now due to cost increases.

I have to admit I slept on the baseball (and softball) program over the winter and completely missed the fact that the season started a week ago (even longer for softball).

Do we have any off-season big news items I need to be aware of? Are we optimistic about the season and potentially making a run at the ACCT and the NCAA Regionals? Or should I set my expectations closer to a .500 mark for the record?

I definitely Sherlock'd Holmes him during all the discussion around the BOV athletics state of affairs and JMFF hire.

I just plugged him into AI and it told me that he was a literal man made from maroon and orange guitars with oddly shaped hands. The future is now.

I want to say when he was developing guys at Duke, their linebacker and safety play was better, which means he probably got to have them focus on being CB's, not covering other areas of the field.

I dont understand why you didn't look in his TKP profile which has his Twitter feed from which you get his name. We know he work for VT so you then look him up in the staff directory. You can go further and wonder if his middle name is **** and why does he have a 703 cell number if he previously lived in ****** ******, ** (not VA). Maybe find out he lives off of Tom's creek in a 4 bed 3 bath house bought in 2017, and probably has a sister named ***** who is married.

Do you guys even spreadsheet?

PS probably not a sister i read it wrong with the name, I assumed it was a married name not maiden name, so probably has a wife named *****, I was preoccupied with grin by a baby to sleep who me searching.

Are those rumors based on something with actual substance or people just assuming things because of CMY's age and the fact that he's scaled back his recruiting efforts* which sometimes indicates a coach on his way out?

*The other and likely possibility is he is punting on traditional recruiting (something I don't agree with) and focusing solely on portal and international players.

That's sort of my point. I'm not advocating for us keeping all four of those games in 2030 (especially with both Liberty and ODU on that schedule), but logically it would have made sense to give us the 8 game conference schedule that season to avoid having to break or buy out a contract instead of arbitrarily picking a team with zero publicly scheduled non-conference games.

That being said, let's drop the @Liberty game in 2030 as that should be the year that we have five away ACC games. But then again, the ACC schedule will likely change five times before then.

Can they play zone? Sure they can! If not, they shouldn't be on a D1 basketball team.
We're not asking to play zone 100% of the time, a la Boeheim's syracuse teams. But on occasion when the situation calls for it. For example, last night miami ran pick and roll after pick and roll against our man-to-man and kept making lay-ups. Switch to a 2x3 zone and you make them do something different for a few possessions. When donaldson got super hot, change to a box and 1 and try to deny him the ball for a few possessions. Sometimes you need to protect one of your own players from foul trouble. Zone sometimes helps you do that.
Is a zone defense a cure all? No. But sometimes it shakes things up for an opponent. Makes them take time to recognize what's going on. Just disrupts them for a few possessions.
If you keep doing the same things over and over, you are going to get the same results!
