You're looking at it the wrong way. Sports can take on any number of meanings, but for most I would say it's something to take enjoyment from, as well as a sense of camaraderie and a place to get the type of thrills that only come from experiencing something in which you have an emotional investment. In all those cases, pure logic would dictate that the desired result you get from watching sports is increased through optimism and excitement. Pessimism would hinder enjoyment, make you less fun to be around (less camaraderie), and add a negative tinge to any emotional investment.
You don't get points for being right about football and (hopefully) you don't watch sports just to have something to be right about. Applying logic to possible outcomes doesn't make sense because your prediction of said outcomes has no bearing on what you actually hope to gain from watching sports.
Don't go crazy on the homerism side, and it certainly pays to be knowledgeable in something you're passionate about (and realistic about your team's chances), but when it comes to a choice between unbridled optimism and the alternative, optimism will always lead to better outcomes in the metrics that matter.
apparently coaches have told recruits that he's going to be a first rounder or something along those lines. I don't think they have any intention of RS'ing him.

I'm living east of Cleveland, now but I grew up in Christiansburg, VA near tech. My girlfriend was at OSU for grad school so we went to the game last year as well. You'll find all the food and bar advice above you'll ever need (which I'm taking notes on, too), lots of things have changed since I've lived there.
Since you're there for two days I'll make a few suggestions if you're into hiking (If not, please disregard!). The Appalachian Trail day hikes are pretty impressive, and not too far away. McAfee's Knob: 
- is a long hike but the easiest of the 3 in the area. Tinker's Cliffs and Dragon's Tooth: 
-are a bit more challenging but have excellent views as well.
You could also go hiking near Mountain Lake in Giles (War Spur loop), which isn't a much further drive than the day hikes, but much easier on the legs. 
These are two hiking trails that lead to old Civil War overlooks, one of the trails is a few miles and the other only a quarter mile or so.
I don't doubt it. I am not questioning him as a whole at all, just saying that play he did not win the leverage battle.

Reavis Releases Statement on His Transfer to JUCO East Mississippi But as I was alluding to earlier, before this information was released, all statements from Reavis have only mentioned the student council committee and nothing of an overseeing judge and assoc. judge. So I was working under the assumption that only the SCC heard his case and not the two judges. Not saying I should assume anything, because I certainly know what that usually makes me, but that is how I interpreted the information.
Homecoming in August? I like it!
It would make a whole hell of a lot of sense. Shoot, I'd run Lawson AND Durkin as WT QBs - Lawson normally and Durkin in short yardage.

potential being the key word here. If as stated in the article, Lawson comes in and completely out does all the other QBs on the field and the staff is comfortable with his knowledge of the playbook and he has a good timing and relationship with the receivers.....then he should play. Just because he may have the "potential" doesn't mean he currently has the know-how to run CSL's offense. Again, as mentioned in the article....Vick had pro-potential and red-shirted.
Would it make more sense to run Durkin or Lawson as the Wild Turkey QB instead of Motley as a way to keep Motley healthy in case Brewer goes down (which is a distinct possibility)?
You have to rest that logical side of your brain at some point. I'm also an engineer, but I rest the logic for Tech football. HYPE TRAIN everyday!

I wouldn't call it same aged, the Judge in the System has a Master degree from Tech in Psychology. And the associate Judge holds 2 Master's Degrees from Tech
Farris was clearly hurt early in the season. I'd have to go back and watch to remember which shoulder, but I can remember that he could barely raise his arm to block, and instead had to lunge his shoulder at guys in the run game. The kid played through a lot of pain.
Yes, my point was more of a caution to VT fans to not get carried away with the trash talk. While we can point to the scoreboard of the Bucks game and thump our chests, when it comes to the rest of the season (as you pointed out) we got nothing. Comparison by any metric (other than head-to-head wins, of course) puts y'all way ahead of us, so any attempts at standard "you suck, we rock" fare by VT fans will be met by reminders of some awfully painful memories.
