I would have to think that Whit is already in talks with Bud Foster as to that exact scenario. "If you do not get the HC job once Frank retires, what do we need to do to keep you and your staff intact here at VT?"

I don't know a HC that would come in and say....."Well Bud may be one of if not the best DC in the country but I'm going another direction." You can literally not higher a better DC than VT already has. Plus if Frank retires on a high....i.e. ACCCG win, playoff game, or at-large bid to previous bcs bowl then I don't necessarily see a new coach coming in and changing everything. Its not like we're cellar dwellers and your job is to rebuild the program to prominence. I dont' think Frank leaves till we're at least a competitive top 15 program again.

Would normally delete this thread, but I don't want to deny your pussy touchdowns.

Because Hardy had his hand wrapped around his girlfriend's throat while he threatened to kill her, and Brady may have been "generally aware" that balls were slightly under inflated?

Next Corey Moore??? lets pump the brakes on that one. Thats some really high praise for someone who hasn't seen much, if any, of the field.

This was my thought when I heard the news too. He's had too many knee injuries and hasn't completed a full season yet.

Did he ever finish his education? If not, then he needs to get that done and work on life after football. IMO it would be more important to be able to walk without pain in 15-20 years than to keep tearing up his knees trying to squeeze a couple of more years out of the NFL.

We've heard for years and years that Frank won't allow OC's to run the offense as they see fit.

I've literally never heard this from anyone other than fans.

"Run the ball more" is probably about as involved as Frank Beamer has ever got involved in the offense. If he had his hand in Stinespring's plate during Stinespring's tenure, do you think they would continue to be working together three years after Stinespring got demoted?

This can't be true, please for the love of everything holy this can't be true. My wife, her entire Columbus family, and many articles I've read this entire year have gone on and on about the young offensive line, inexperienced Barrett, bear front, cover 0, a full moon causing strong ocean waves that impacted Urban Meyer's ability to make adjustments during a live football game, improbable VT 3rd down conversions, nearly intercepted passes by OSU at the end of the game, no mention of missed picks by VT backfield, how the scoreboard made it look like a bigger loss than it really was.

All of these guys, and especially Bosa, better be on the field come Labor Day, because if we pull this game off and I have to listen to another round of excuses I am going to lose my mind. If they win, I'll gladly tip my cap after about a day of being pissed off.

If they win do you want them to troll here?

Lets not act like this game is a win already. Especially not when that is the exact thing we are knocking the commenters on 11W for doing. As ridiculous as it is for them to be predicting that they drop 60 on us, they do have more of a reason to be confident about a win than we do.

Any other year and the national title team starting the season against a 7-6 team that had to win their final game to even make a bowl wouldn't even generate discussion. The only reason this is even a question, and the only reason anyone in the media is even giving us a 10% chance is that we looked really good when we beat them last year.

Granted we are all fans of the team, and we followed the injuries, and saw that the team who lost 6 of 9 games after OSU was not the team that beat OSU. Still, from a casual observers standpoint, a win versus the national champions sure looks like a fluke. I wouldn't have picked Kentucky to beat LSU again the year after LSU won their most recent title.

Seems to me you optimize your usefulness in this situation by getting your degree, and possibly an NFL contract.

Then again, we don't know very much at all about the particulars.

I'll pull for him no matter what he does.

Was he ever really given a chance at LB? That seems like the only position that might give him a chance at the NFL at his size. Perhaps another school can offer that.

Well, except that a lot of IPA's not a good summer beer make.

For me, being on the beach, I would prefer more session style beers or wheats. Now I've had some session IPA's, which were fine. However, I'd say there are a lot of IPAs I would not want a 6 pack of while sitting on the beach.

How would going to school at UMD change this situation?

I mentioned this in the Reavis post:

For those who don't know, Melvin's current struggles are significantly more important than what goes on in Lane Stadium:

Listen, if the guy needs to leave Virginia Tech for UMD or another institution, so be it. The guy is a class act and Hokie Nation should be behind him even if he's not wearing O&M. His family is significantly more important than football.

I looked at the tweets, as part of my search for info on CJ, and other than him following Randy and UMD Recruiting analyst, there isn't any true hint of displeasure at the school. He could also be following them, as he has friends who may be thinking of going to UMD, or just keeping in touch with other recruits. During that time, he also followed a VT Basketball girl. All his tweets though are very pro VT. Something drastic would have had to happen for him to go the opposite way.
