It has been said that Loeffler would be the last OC that CFB hires. I think that is fair. Imo, if Lefty improves on is ability to expose defensive weakness, I think we will be pleased O progress. The first half of the W Mich game last year had me in tears. It was obvious they couldnt stop the run yet we passed for 3 and outs several times. To me, that showed being shaky. We should have gone into half up 3 scores and planning to play 2nd and 3rd string for 1.5 qtrs.
It's being mentioned by some people on twitter and message boards that the Battle at Bristol could almost be holding the program hostage at this point. Basically, if the general thought is that Beamer coaches through 2016 regardless simply because of that game, then we maintain status quo with the staff through the end of next year - even if we have another disappointing season in 2015, which I hope isn't the case.
Why? OSU lost to us and still made it into the playoffs. Not exactly a good look on their resume last season.
What is a hostage game?
Man I hope we get this guy.
On a side note, on average, whenever a recruit posts a top 5 list, how often do we get picked? It can't be often. It seems like we score better with the recruits that don't do that.
Haskins is the guy I'm hoping the staff can close on at the TE position. He's got the make-up to be a perfect fit for Lefty's system.
Really? We're gonna start this AGAIN?
Aaaaaaaand collapse sub-thread in 3....2.....1
The weekend will provide the coaches the chance to hold workouts for some prospects, but it will also help them show off their camaraderie at a barbeque with all the recruits to wrap up their visits.

6'5" and 234 lbs? Sounds like he should be keeping a VERY close eye on Bucky. And even beyond that, Malleck and Cline. Our utilization of TEs this year should really catch this guys eye. Oh yeah, and we have 2 pre-season Mackey Award watch list candidates. Thank you Stinespring for your success with our TEs.
Also of note:
But which school stands out at the moment?
"It's really hard, honestly," Haskins said. "I'm gonna be back at Virginia Tech on the 25th. They are having like this barbecue thing, where everyone is just gonna gather.
Haskins says Rutgers, West Virginia and Virginia Tech are the three schools he's in contact with most.
Loeffler and Beamer are tied at the hip at this point. If the offense struggles again this year, there is no way Loeffler is out and Beamer stays around to pick a new OC for most likely one season. What kind of quality OC is going to come to VT knowing he's not going to be around long? If the offense flourishes, and we have a 9-10+ win year, the entire staff will return for Beamer's last run in 2016. If we're in 6-7 win territory again with a putrid offense...there may be huge reprecussions. I do agree, however, that this is a make-or-break season for Loeffler. No excuses, barring catastrophic injury.
Haskins showed just how versatile he can be, throwing for 1,090 yards and 12 TDs on 61-of-99 passing (62%) in nine games in 2014.
He has the experience.
Everything I've read about him says hes raw but a freak athletically. You better believe he's watching how Bucky does this year
Jovani meet Bucky Hodges future 1st round TE in the NFL Draft
Jovani's got that Calvin Johnson type mold to him, long & runs like a gazelle
QB of the future.

# | OT: Does any one remember a Tshirt that read: "Speed kills, strength punishes...VIrginia Tech football? Been racking my brains for weeks trying to find a way to modify my outfit so I can wear this shirt and still go orange effect on Sept. 7th.
Jesse Allen

Joe, thanks for all you do. I appreciate you more after listening to this.
couldn't possibly have as much rotten injury luck as last year
Darn, just went and did it.
7 wins or less and Beamer is gone.. It got real nasty this past year and no idea how close it was but it definitely got dark real quick. Had we lost to UVA that might have been the final straw.
I think we have a shot at 8-10 wins this year easily. 5 of 6 losses last year were 7 points or less. That's pretty crazy. Imagine a 11-1 VT team going into ACC title game.. If we win that puts us in playoff talk especially after beating OSU.
At this point if we have a 7 or less wins the big thing is the Bristol game because Beamer fought/worked hard to get that one. Multiple people/twitter folks are saying that could end up being a hostage game depending on the results this year.
and so far this year the top 10 VA recruits will be heading out of state.. We're getting beat by Duke, UNC and I can deal with the SEC/Ohio State schools. But Duke really... they have had 2 good seasons and the recent ACC title game. It's been 4 years since VT was in the ACC title game and that's not a pretty stat, which also could be why we're missing top recruits.

# | Hokies Ready to Host Multitalented "757" Prospects Phillip Patterson, Devon Hunter in Late July Ya thats an impressive list. I wasnt trying to be the negative nelly i have just noticed that when theyve got that long list of offers we tend to get burned. Im all for still offering to the big talent obviously as theres no other way to get it. I just try not to get my hopes up as my spirit only has so much it can take from losses during the football season without additional "losses" regarding recruiting. I have no idea how the coaches who put their time, sweat, blood, tears into these kids bounce back from being rejected. My hats off to them!
I remember this shirt. it was black with white writing. But this was back in the days when #7 was Lamont Pegues. It might have been a Big East shirt.

Beamer won't retire till the end of next season at the earliest unless circumstances force him to retire. It will just work out to well with the Battle at Bristol and it being Beamer's 30th season
