That was my first college football game ever, and is still the single greatest day of my life.

Spending middle and high school in Upstate SC made me despise Clemson more than anything else (even more than UVA and WVU), and that game and the one in 2006 were great. What's happened lately really put a damper on my college football enjoyment.

I was sitting in the Clemson section to the left of the VT section, and distinctly remember someone yelling, "DON'T KICK IT TO 'EM, THEY'LL JUST SCORE AGAIN!"

It would take a lot of luck, but if VT loses a close game to OSU, and wins out there'd be a chance, but it would require nearly every other team in nation losing twice. Chances are slim, but we've seen that scenario before

Amen, I still watch that game even though we lost. Sensational performance, even by his insanely high standards. I'm biased, but I still think he was the most exciting college football player since Bo Jackson

Couldn't agree with you more here, he had elite defensive linemen chasing their own shadows (Corey Simon and Jamal Reynolds), and he made Peter Warrick look like an afterthought. Biggest game by a Hokie in the biggest game in our history. And that was before Bobby Bowden got distracted looking for his Big King, so dementia hadn't set in yet...high praise indeed.

Our front 4 this year will be some of the best we have ever had! The question will be rest of the defense and the offense! Shai should be good to go "hopefully with a knee brace" come October! I surely hope that Trey's experience against Bama will help us out! Anyways in my best case scenario I think we have a chance at the playoff, worse case being that we have a 10 win season!

"Without discussing the details, there is an appeal process that we are going through at this point," Jimmy Turk said. "I expect that process to maybe exhaust itself over the next week to 10 days."

Unfortunately, it also said this: "Student conduct decisions may only be appealed in the event of a denial of due process, significant and relevant new evidence or unduly harsh or arbitrary sanctions that are not consistent with conduct or case precedent."

So the odds of a successful appeal don't look particularly good.
