Prep school is still an option if you don't pass the clearinghouse, but in prep school you can only improve your test scores, not your grades. So if you only need a few points on the ACT/SAT to qualify through the clearinghouse then prep school is a good option because it could only delay you by a semester. Prep school is also useful if you are missing certain classes (e.g., a math requirement) to gain admission. Again, that can be completed in 1 semester. The risk is that you go to prep school for a year and don't get the required test score. Then you've wasted a year making no progress towards a degree. Also, prep school is likely significantly more expensive than JUCO.
However, if you're far off (or not confident that you can get the required test scores), then JUCO let's you essentially "start over" as the coach suggests. I know zero about the non-qualifier rules on accepting JUCOs though so I'll leave that explanation to others.

Following this topic, I actually got the plates before I got the car and couldnt think of anything witty at the time. Now that I have this beautiful piece of machinery, what if I got plates that said something like "VT RT" or something like that? HKEDGDE? Damn 7 character limit...
Was hoping the Hokie club would be doing more to promote this on VT sites. Such a good promotion in my opinion. Feels like a rare opportunity for new donors to donate $110 to see a walk through and get a tour of the indoor facility.

Maybe I'm wrong, but for whatever reason that's not on my radar screen. I guess if we were asked to do it, you'd want to weigh one, it's a heck of a student-athlete experience if you've never been to Ireland. But it would have to fit within your schedule. What does it do to your team? I may offend some, but that's not even on my radar screen at this point in time. We haven't been asked to do it. I'm more concerned about playing games in Blacksburg than I am Ireland.
this is about as perfect of an answer as you could hope for...Whit is a great fit for us and I'm excited to see how he evolves our Athletics over the next decade or two.

Last season was a real treat. High entertainment factor, known names, and a really cool stylized approach that differentiated it from the average show. Not quite as good as Justified, but still, a really good show.
First show this season? Jury's still out. I thought it was a little confusing, sometimes lame, never as engaging as the series last year. I am willing to give it some time to develop, knowing it was a set up and given that I have to buy in to Colin as someone I enjoy watching, but because of the absolute killer of a first year of the series, I am willing to give it time to get me.

I get that it may not look good now, but there is no way Logan should play under any circumstances for a couple more years. Does that mean he's never going to be at least serviceable, No. When you take a quarterback outside the 1st round you are acknowledging that that person has work to do before he'll be a viable option. Sure you occasionally have your Russel WIlsons and Tom Bradys, but for the most part it'll take some time.
Some people in that range are good college qb's who need time to adjust to the NFL and work on varying skill sets. Logan has a lot to work on, but unlike most of these guys he is a heck of a physical specimen( He has a much higher ceiling than this Sims guy will ever have). Would it be stupid to take someone like that in the top 5 like Mel Kiper predicted a couple years ago, Heck yes. However as a 3rd Rd. pick you can teach Logan the ins and outs (He;s barely been in the Cardinals program for a year). Worst case they look back 3 years from now and he was a complete failure(but it's only a 3rd Rd. Pick the organization will be fine). Other more feasible scenarios are he's a good backup like Tyrod who gets his shot on another team(still not the end of the world). Or he'll turn into Arizona's starting QB and sure he may not be a top 10 quarterback, but you can use those high picks on putting talent around him, and hopefully make some noise (If Trent Dilfer can have success anybody can right?)
If this story was written two years from now it'd be newsworthy, but as of today this is no more than a filler off-season story.

I watched it twice. The first time I thought it was really slow and not much was happening. The second time though I really liked it. I think I had to watch most episodes from last season twice just to pick up on all the little details.

They certainly couldn't have chosen a better time for a streak, particularly given how average their season was.
Averaged 7 yards per punt return (1 TD); allowed 3 yards per return (0 TD). Blocked one; had none blocked. Had 45 returns to opponent's 29. AJ gutted it out with a bad back. I'll take it.
Kickoff returns was another story...
I think the last episode was just ok, definitely a set-up episode, but I have high hopes for the season, especially the second half of the season.
It was slow...odd...and I am not ashamed to say I am slightly confused.
Not sure how I feel about Colin's role yet either.

I was decidedly "meh" on it. I think part of it is just that last season (and the premiere episode last year) just drew me in instantly and had such an odd and uncomfortable vibe about the story that it was unlike a lot of cop shows I had ever seen.
I didn't get that feeling from this premiere, but I am not going to hold that against it just yet. Definetely willing to give it time to grow into itself rather than trying to just compare it to last years brilliance right off the bat.
One thing thats worth noting is that the director of all of the episodes from last year is not working on this season. I could tell right away the difference, which I hope does not end up being detrimental.
