No my parents and grandfather always wanted to go to friends and family restaurant in pearieburg, which was fine ...

I'd be willing to chip in the first $250. Can't do $500 and that triggers the rule my wife and I have (discussed already in Joe's thread about how we can only spend up to x-amount on things unless we talk about it first and okay with the other). $250 or even $400 I can do no questions asked, but $500 is when our agreement kicks in.

Note: obviously, we can spend that on car repairs, a broken pipe ... things that are needed. It just applies to indulgences and things like that.

Honestly, I dont see much difference between 105 and 120 or whatever with 85 scholarships. More kids have scholarships now but very few players outside of top 60 are seeing the field on Gameday. It gives the coaches more practice fodder and makes it easier than NFL dealing with injuries but colleges cant shop around for the injury replacement in season like the NFL (at least not yet). These days for a punishment to hurt the product on the field it all comes down to money.

The Mensah saga is over I guess and I doubt it changes anything except how teams structure contracts. Duke's lawsuit and TRO was probably very beneficial to them. From what I heard on the TSL podcast, it was a 2 year deal and Duke did not have a damages clause for when the player breaks the contract. Without the lawsuit and TRO, Mensah probably could have just walked and Duke would have received nothing in return. But with the TRO preventing Mensah from enrolling at another school, Duke likely used this leverage to get a monetary return (essentially acting as a transfer fee).

And my guess is that's the next step in NIL contract evolution. Every NIL contract will require a value to be released from the NIL contract, which will essentially set up a transfer fee system. And similar to your noncompete suggestion earlier, I think you could probably set this value to be higher based on who the player signs with. Something along the lines of: "Player can be released from this contract for a cost of $1M. If Player enrolls at another institution prior to the end date of this Contract, the player will owe [CURRENT UNIVERSITY] an additional $1M if that institution is within the Big-10, Big-12, or SEC, or an additional $2M if that institution is within the ACC."

Bah gawd. I'm ready

Sponsorship Info here:

Team sponsorship requires contact and they have an inquiry submission on their website. But they have set values to sponsor a dog for a year:

  • Lead dog is $500
  • Team dog is $250
  • Retired dog is $100

Notably, for Team sponsorship they say this: "We love to help businesses out that help us, so contact us to see how we can partner up with your business." I don't know how much it would truly benefit the TKP, but we probably could get sponsorship if enough TKPers are interested in chipping in (and if sanctioned by Joe).

It has been cool to follow the Iditarod and Paige via TKP. I certainly would not even know about Paige or Squid Acres but for the community here. And looking forward to it again.

Here is her website (got here from Paige's Iditarod page posted by LBT):
https://squidacres.com/

They have ways to sponsor their dogs and visit their kennel, including opportunities to do tours and mushes.

Further tangential thoughts:
My parents have convinced me and my siblings to go on a family Alaska Cruise, from Seward to Vancouver. As part of that trip, I wanted to fly in early to visit Denali National Park and see other parts of Alaska. Seeing that Squid Acres does tours and mushes (even in summer), I am going to contact them about a tour.

That would be so fun.
I wonder if someone would like to step up and see how many would kick in a $10 or so, even if we can't be a full sponsor. Send her a HOAT shirt, etc.

Thank you for posting this and setting the stage. Saw she was entered again, but work has been - and continues to be - massively hectic, so I've been away from other things. So looking forward to my planned retirement or (more likely) semi-retirement in ~1.5 years.

SPONSORS;

Northern Air Cargo
Integrative Pain Center of Alaska
Woodland Wellness Center
Susitna Adventure Lodge
Big Dan's Pet Food

Can we get TKP to sponsor Paige? I'd donate to that. I wonder how much a sponsorship costs?

Edit: How about an AMA hosted by TKP? With a little over a month out, I wonder if that is doable.

To show how much we miss Kevin Giltner's game planning.

He took over Wofford two weeks before the season started, was not involved in recruiting anyone on his roster.

Wofford is 15-7 and 7-2 in SoCon, tied for first.

Let's go!!! After last year I think Paige can win the whole thing if the dogs want to run and she doesn't have any streaks of bad luck.

With hindsight it's kind of hilarious that there were threats of him leaving. Anyone who would have hired Fuente away from us would have actually been doing us a solid, even if it wouldn't have felt like it at the time. Instead we paid him 8.75 million to go away in 2021. And he hasn't gotten near coaching since, so no one has been able to make us feel like it was a mistake

I'll be along for the ride again!

One of my former co-workers went to the Old Soldiers Home in DC for the last 6 years or so of his life. RIP Paul.

Everybody needs to have a plan and most peoples will be different.
