I noticed that too. Odd for a track guy. Was he more middle distance? (400-800.) He returns kickoffs like he is running an 800.
That is evil. Looks incredible. Thanks for sharing that recipe!
Bruce was always listed as a DE (college and pros). The dude was a monster. He broke a Miami QBs shoulder in one game early in one season - I think it was Jim Kelly in 1982.
You make a good point about the Outland trophy being for "interior" lineman. Maybe there wasn't a distinction for that award back then that there is now (a new award was added?).
Forgive my ignorance, as the Bruce Smith era was quite a bit before my time, but how much DE did Bruce actually play in college? In the limited highlight footage I can find, there are plays where he's coming off the edge, but there's also footage of him introducing himself as a defensive tackle. And he won the Outland award which is for interior lineman. And I've read he was north of 300 lbs at one point during his senior season (that's 80 lbs more than Dadi).
In terms of leaping ability and explosiveness, I'd say Dadi's pretty similar to Gayle. Gayle had the position record for vertical jump (I think it was 39") before Dadi broke it. Also, Gayle's 10 yard split from his combine 40 was a 1.6 (I question how meaningful it is to compare hand-timed results for such a short time duration, but whatever). From a physical standpoint, Dadi is Jams Gayle with the Level 3 Weight Reduction and Nitrous Packages from Need for Speed.

Many scouts feel that how high a long snapper jumps immediately after snapping the ball is a sign of future success.
It's not my job, it's Whits job. If anyone from hokie club wants to call me to talk about raising money to buy out the men's bball coach Id love to talk. Arguments like these are tired.
I believe Andy Bitter mentioned that Teller is at Guard for the moment in one of his articles today.
Yea, its the bigger part that gets me to Bruce Smith.
I played sand volleyball against Bruce while I was at VT. Man that dude was big, fast, and could jump really high (blot out the sun high)!
I think its pretty cool I can say I helped kburkeVT figure out he wanted to write for TKP. It feels like it was just yesterday...
Thanks for all of your hardworkd guys!
Wrong thread.

This kid has explosiveness - 2nd in the 40 yard, and 1st in the 10 yard. Will look foward to see him in the spring game to see if his numbers translate to the field.
its come such a long way. i feel like an old timer and i've only been around for two years. we had the mascot mock, hokie tracks columns, one pic to sum up a game, and jmichons and in enemy territory sat at the top of the big board. now the community is so big I can hardly keep up with all the discussions. the serious and not so serious coverage are both top notch, not just among vt, or even acc blogs, but nationally.
i love this place. i'm serious, i'm not on facebook or twitter. i still do all my real life socializing through actual human contact, so you guys are my only online friends. here's to many more years! tkp and loluva forever!
tkp and loluva forever!
This should be the official site motto.
Duffman, its clear that you want JJ gone. If you want a new coach, all you have to do is raise the money for his buyout. Thats what Marshall just did with their coach. Private funds for 500k bought out Herrions contract and he was fired today. If you want JJ gone so bad, call up the athletic department and pledge your money
So the question that is clearly on everyone's mind. I'll say it if no one else will.
I'm expecting big things out of Colton Taylor, mostly because I've heard of him before.
He is clearly a person on the football team, and I expect that his footballing will continue to contribute to the success of the team.
I've heard he really gets after ya and brings his lunch pail to work every day.
Even more importantly, I knew before now that he was on the team, and that he has a long history of being.
I'm sure we're all looking forward to the success he will bring us with his position-record vertical jump.
Thanks, Colton. Long snap away!
Dadi reminds me of a bigger version of Corey Moore.
Reading Andy's blog and looking at Beamerball tables got me thinking. When was the last time we had Dadi Nicholas' numbers combination in a DE....?
Bruce Smith!!
Discussed before, but let's show some love for little man JC Coleman with with big boy front squat of 455?!
Yeah, I know. But it IS a lyric from Enter Sandman
Simply speaking, this is a great site and my one stop shop for hokie info. Great job Joe and the columnists!

Your right. I thought he wrote B-52. I misread what he said. I know my aircraft. Just read too fast. Sorry all.
