No mention of James Anderson? He was a weight room monster during his time at Tech and started every game for the Chicago Bears defense this past year.
I spoke to the diving coach earlier today, and the men will be adding a bunch of points from platform. Ron Piemonte is easily VT's best coach, so much of this victory goes to him (no joke. He's better than Beamer. We're insanely lucky to have him). So tomorrow it might look bad, but remember that dive points are added late. If we place how we should, this meet it ours.
The diving points havent officially been added yet. For all intents and purposes, we lead by 78 points now. Tomorrow night, before the relay, those points will be added. We have better milers and 200 swimmers than NC State, so it's our meet to lose at this point. If I had to bet, we have this one in our hands. Chances are, we'll be bringing home hardware and VT will be champions. Crazier things have happened, however, so it's not a guarantee. But, if we do what we're supposed to, you'll be looking at VT winning the ACC Championships in swimming, and nothing on this Earth can make me more proud.

I disagree mostly with what you said, but upvoted you because you sounded pretty confident about it.
There were lots of issues last year with technique and route-running, and I expect anyone new to have the same growing pains. Some routes were being run at the wrong depth, players were coming out of their breaks too high, and others had trouble when jammed at the LOS. WRs were trying to catch the ball with their body, all which led to some bad performances early on. Players developed as the season went on, and schemes changed a bit to fit the players. I don't see Morehead shaking things up now that he's got Stanford and Byrn as effective WRs. Right now the only position I see open is for a dominating deep threat.
It would be fantastic if Knowles could develop into the dominating deep threat we need, but core exercises are not going to win him any jump balls next year; he needs to work on high-pointing the ball. And I don't expect him to turn into Jarrett Boykin anytime soon.
With Leal's strength being the deep ball, finding a deep threat receiver who can get separation and catch "back shoulder throws" is job #1 for Morehead this offseason.
According to the article the day 2 score already had the 1 meter platform points included. Are the 70 points you are putting up in addition to the 1 meter? Just curious...

Great Interview - Thanks Andy. A couple things I noticed that seem pertinent to Hokie football, past and future:
1. "And when you look back at it, he did great things, but he was also able to be aided and helped with a bunch of older guys that were his receiving corps alone, my gosh, they were all great players." [He's talking about Chad Henne.]
Wow, does that sound like 2011 with LT3...
2. "Because of the graduate exemption rule, he will graduate this semester and be able to play immediately at whichever school he chooses."
"He redshirted in 2011 before getting his first action in 2012, going 34-for-48 for 375 yard and four touchdowns in nine games." He didn't play in 2013
"He'll have two years of eligibility left."
So Brewer got his undergrad degree in 3 years. He can obviously handle a pretty heavy load and football at the same time. Brewer has a demonstrated high mental capacity - gotta love that. The 2 years left of eligibility is a key bit of information. Lefty can work with him and get more than just 1 yr of production for that investment. That is a unique situation.
3. "your starting guy has possibly never played, a guy that you think could be the guy in your program that youre not sure yet. Youre hoping. But youre not sure. Or youre playing a guy thats never been in the program thats an older guy. So if you take those three situations and you eliminate one, now youre down to two. Weve got to make sure that weve got at least every available option to give ourselves a chance to put a guy on the field thats ready to go."
These three underlined above are the Freshman, Leal, and a Transfer guy (in that order). So this is clearly a way to insure he has all these three options available to the team for next Fall. This is pure and simple risk management/risk mitigation. Lefty is really going to go after getting Brewer.
I like the way Lefty thinks. He really has all his "stuff in one can" to use a country phrase (you need to change "stuff" to a 4 letter word - but you get what I mean).
