Is summer camp enough time for Durkin and McMillian to adjust to the college game? I love their potential but one month doesn't seem like enough time to adjust and make a big impact next year. At least not without considerable growing pains in game situations

I'm gonna agree with fern and say there's BUD and then there's the list. So here's the rest:
1. Future Tech DC Gray because of B.O.O.B.
2. Moorehead (giggity) because of what he had to work with and choppin dat wood
3. Lefty because of QBs and improved and less guessable predictable playcalling
4. Lil Beams because of recruiting, improved Edmunds and youth
5. Brown because "Tweedy-IT'S WHIP" and a SB ring from a pro team with badass D.
6. Wiles because of Tyler and Edwards
7. Stiney for recruiting and Kline
Honorable mention: Grimes for recruiting and improved line.

Any particular reason you feel the offensive line won't be great? I don't know about anyone else, but I'm pretty excited to see what Searles does with the Oline and I think he isn't going to disappoint.
I think you just got me a heck of a lot more excited about this kid. It's a shame he isn't one of the early enrollees, I think that would have given him a better chance to stick at QB. It's going to be an exciting battle this spring.

Apparently Whit is going to look at the sports with a losing record and assess what direction they need to go. Men's Basketball, Women's Basketball, Lacrosse and Men's Soccer are the main 4 that will be looked. Briz just pulled a decent recruiting class and Lacrosse is competitive so I think one of the two basketball coaches may be the ones that go, if anyone is let go.

By the looks of it, the view will probably get obstructed, but the deck's hardly get used from what I've seen. Overall I think this could end up looking pretty good and solves a lot of the problems. Having dual fields will allow the coaches to observe two different squads going at once, which they pretty much already do anyway. Revamping the driveway back there and the lighting on bike/walking paths is definitely a nice touch too.
From what I understand, they will begin once spring practice is over.
I may receive some downvotes for this but I don't think he deserves another year. He's had two years to try and improve it but failed to do so. Not ALL of it is on him, but the ability to improve on what you got and overcome odds is paramount.
That being said, I wouldn't be surprised if he's given one more year. It's just the way things are done at Tech. Percentage wise I would say 70% chance he's back, 35-40% gone.
Our offensive line won't be great next year so..... Travon for QB. Even if that guy COULDN'T throw the ball, he would win football games for us with is feet.
Thinking about our potential......Three stud RB's plus a QB who can SCOOT AND THROW. Two wide receivers at 6'2"+ (that aren't named Marcus Davis) plus another 4 star WR.....Boys, I'm getting pretty damn excited. How this class ended up at just #25 in the country is SILLY. Next year we could get to 10 wins. The year after that, we f***in better win the damn conference!
Manny Atkins is definitely someone they could use on this team. With Jarrell gone next year and him not doing a whole lot since about the middle of December, they could have used someone like Manny to spell him some. Plus with only one wing coming in next year, I think that will mean a lot more 3 guard looks.
Sucks for Chaney's career getting cut short, kid was a baller. High Point took a chance and for the most part it was paying off.
Doe-Doe I think had such big expectations, because everyone said he was going to be better than his brother. He still has time, but I don't know if he'll get there.

Most of the time a player can't come in and do well at Whip right away, its a position that has a lot of nuances and it can take a while to learn it, usually 3-4 years. Back in early 2011 Kyle Tucker (Andy Bitter's predecessor) wrote:
From 2004 to 2009, six straight seasons, Virginia Tech finished the season ranked no worse than 12th nationally in total defense. Then came 2010. The Hokies plummeted to 52nd.
So what happened? Well, for the first time in seven years, Tech had a young guy who wasnt quite ready to play at the all-important whip linebacker spot. Jeron Gouveia-Winslow was a redshirt sophomore whod played only 35 snaps and recorded three tackles in his college career before taking over at whip last season.
Even though Fisher could be really good as a Whip, and would have physical tools that JGW never had, I think it would probably take longer for him to see the field there. As a DB he would probably contribute as a True Freshman and have a good shot at a starting spot as a Sophomore. As a Whip, he would likely be headed for an unnecessary redshirt, since I think RVD is expected to be ready to go in the Spring.
Edit: Just double checked, at the time of the surgery, he he was expected to be a limited participant in spring, and full participant in Fall.
Any updates on the health of Ronny VanDyke, Devin VanDyke and Ryan Malleck? Will they be cleared to participate in Spring Practice?

It is interesting but slow at moments. The last two episodes were really good and cleared some stuff up for me. I'm afraid that the show will end up being too confusing for its own writers and it will become a jumbled mess. Is is me or does almost everyone on the show mumble? It drives me nuts.
