I see what you're saying. How do the guys who barely qualified fare academically when they get here? Short answer, I dunno. Beamer & co. are known for graduating players and have a great academic support staff. We generally don't hear too much about academic issues once guys are enrolled.
I meant that in the sense of over the course of their academic career?
What about the traditional state rivalries that some schools have? I can't see GT or Clemson giving up the last weekend of the season and not play UGA and USCe during that week.

Someone can correct me on this, but unless there was a major oversight, once they are on campus they are enrolled. Unless they're squatting Cousin Eddie style.
i've forgotten what Minor's specific issue was, but how do our players who have enrollment issues typically fare once they arive on campus?
Sorry, but a Frank Beamer comparison...
Might as well bring up that Coach Krzyzewski's had two losing seasons in his first three at Duke with an overall record of 38-47 while we're at it.
There are instances of coaches dramatically improving after a difficult start, but Beamer and Coach K also had prior head coaching experience. I'm OK with giving JJ another year, but can we at least not bring up Hall of Fame coaches when the only commonality is early failures?

Just curious, but what "administrators" are you blaming for what you believe to be a bad design?
If the pass is high and the receiver has to jump up to catch it, I want a defender to be able to hit him as soon as he touches the football to keep him from catching it.
If the receiver has to jump to catch the ball, the QB should have thrown it lower. The defender didn't make him defenseless, his teammate did.

And if you look at a lot of the top teams right now (TAMU, Auburn, Oregon just to name a few,) this is going to have major implications on how these franchises will perform over the next few years.

It's bot neccesarily fair, but its not exactly a bad reason. If someone does not know the game well enough (which many fans dont), they will not be able to appreciate good defense, but an offense more so.

Agree with vtman09 on the rivalry aspect, that's not going to happen. Maybe if the SEC wanted to do something similar, but there's no chance FSU, Clemson, and GT would agree to this without that. I also don't have an aversion to our current format, and even though Clemson was most likely the second best team in the conference most years it's a very good system. Another issue I would see is scheduling. Figuring out the logistics of team travel, classes, and film within a week potentially two weeks in a row would be a bear for everyone involved.
