It isn't just the NOVA and 757 people that like the Redskins or brought them to Bburg. A lot of the locals like the Skins, because the Panthers have only been around since the early 1990's ('93 I believe) and as you would imagine, a lot of people started following the NFL and determined a favorite team before the Panthers came around.
We have a basketball team?
Okay, so what I'm learning here is as a Redskins fan I should do the following:
- Not be excited when they win
- Not read anything in the newspaper about the team
- Not watch anything on tv about the team
- Not get excited about future players
- Be mad about every free agent acquisition that the team makes
- Move out of the DMV so I no longer can watch them as the local team
Then I will be liked?
I don't think Touchdown Jesus would appreciate that.
Even the top 1/3 isn't all that great. Syracuse is lighting it up, but Duke is having a very non-Duke season, Pitt is doing moderately well, and everyone else is average at best.
Some of the things that go on between these runners to/from college coaches and AAU aren't so much cheating as they are felonies, actually.

UVa is reaping the benefit of having a decent team in a very, very, very down ACC. I can't remember a time when the bottom 2/3rds of the league was this bad in my 40 yrs of watching ACC ball.
... and as usual the Lawyers Win!
He was 252 on enrollment day.
OK a long time ago a farmer had a pole and a peach basket and probably some ball with black and white patches...
Would love to see how many 18 footers they could put in, has to equate to more points than how many threes they hit against UVA (9 points on 3 for 18 shooting)
Yeah, and after that air ball display he put on at UVA I wonder about his confidence, but I do think he will be a heck of a player someday for us. Would like to see less 3 bombs from this team though, even if we were the best in the nation for a week or 2.
So tonight we would only have Eddie off the baseline and Wilson driving the lane if Smith and Emelogu sit. Ben might play in limited minutes to throw up a few three bombs.
Raines will need to step up on to the ceiling. Barksdale is really our only offensively talented big man. Van Zegren and Thompson can block shots, but I would bet they lead the nation in missed dunks.
We seem to have 3 plays with Barksdale out of the line-up. Adam Smith or Emelogu (spelling not important) dribbling and shooting a three pointer, Eddie curling off the baseline for a three, or Devin Wilson trying to drive and create something by himself.
have to feel bad that Johnson never seems to have everything he needs at his disposal, but we also need more of a game plan. We've become pretty easy to predict after the season begins.
Thorns was a stud at TCU (all Mtn West)

Garland has been very good at La Salle avg. 13-14 per game.
Could argue they were impatient and not willing to wait for their time, but these guys could play.
God is pushing it, but when you have to compare him against the TimeCop, he might just appear to be wearing a ringlet and carrying a lightning bolt.
I do think that Wichita State has a better opportunity than we do because year in year out it is a significant challenge for us to simply make the tournament, where Wichita State bringing in the talent he does, scrubs the floor with their league primarily. Once you are in the field of 68, anything is possible, because at most you need a seven game winning streak to get it done. Does the ACC as a whole bring in better talent than Wichita State, sure, and we use it to beat the snot out of each other, making it difficult at the end of a season to put a six or seven game winning streak together.
UVA fans think their basketball team should be Top 25 and make the sweet 16 every season, so while Bennet has built a solid team/program and I think he's a very good coach, calling him a god in Charlottesville might be going a little far. For example, he's nothing close to Shaka Smart at VCU.
He said during the presser he would be in the 'burg working full time Feb 17th
Do you really think that Wichita State has a bigger shot at a title than we do? I mean, certainly, right now it sounds preposterous, but if he came to Tech and had the upgrade in support that our athletic department could provide, what's to say he couldn't get our program turned around to the point where we could make a run? I'd say our ceiling is certainly higher than most mid-majors, assuming we can actually get our basketball program turned around. We are in the ACC, after all. I mean, look at last season. Miami won both the ACC regular season and tournament championships, and were a top-5 team. This year, well... we beat them in Miami.
What's basketball?
By stating "creating memorable experiences", he seems the type who may bring back fan favorites like Stick it in chats, etc. Pretty excited with this one.
March 1st.

Hell, I refuse to acknowledge our basketball team
