Welp goodnight folks. First time this season I am turning it off early. This has been embarrassing.
Prior to the late 60's, we used to watch the Baltimore Colts in the B-burg area and it was a great time to be a Colts fan. Then came Sonny Jurgensen and Billy Kilmer (should we have shot at some of those dying quail passes?) to usher in the Redskin's Sunday-afternoon dominance. It seemed everyone but me turned immediately a fan - traitors. Perhaps folks felt some kinship as DC was/still is closer.
And we make everyone else look like world beaters.
BC is getting wide open look after wide open look
The fact is that we are not very good. Sigh.
I had a brain fart and confused him with Drew Harris for some reason.
My bad.
I've been a Steelers fan my entire life, but I'm partial to the Redskins because Lavar Arrington went to my high school (before I was there but I still thought it was cool)
I think he's giving those Vineyard Vines wearing, Merlot sipping, educational institute, a little piece of their own medicine.
See Andrew Brown
It's really pretty insane (and pretty cool, IMO) how much younger we've gotten as an institution the past year or so. According to I think David Teel, we went from having the oldest AD in the ACC to the youngest, our president is much younger (I want to say early 50s, yes?) and then just take a look at the football coaching staff. I'm not sure why there's such a youth movement at VT right now, but I'm pretty ok with it. I'm all for some young blood now and hopefully some more stability over the next 15+ years or so.
BC getting away with muggings on their defensive end thus far so not an equal setting so far. BC goes 13-17 at the line and hit seven threes in the first half to take a 46-33 lead into the locker room. Most games teams don't take as many free throws as the refs gave BC this half. Eddie was about the only bright spot of the half. Raines laid a complete egg out there once he got in. At one point Eddie was 5 for 7 while the rest of the team was 2 for 14 Eddie has 19 of Techs 33 points so far
All I can say is wow about this game!
"Hokies respect our opponent, but fear no one"
It's about time we got a little fucking swagger. Consider yourself on notice, ACC. New President. New AD. New coaches that fit and fit well. Recruiting is up...all we need now is a bit more love via the HC.
Hokie football, 2014: Damage, Inc.
JJ's practices I would say are far more intense than any of the one's I witnessed under SG but I think it is more out of frustration than by design. They do some good drills that you see play out in the game for the most part, but the difference is that the intensity doesn't translate to the games. They come out soft and expect teams to roll over for them. Devin Wilson being quoted that "we took them lightly" against BC the first time was an absolute joke. After being beaten by USC Upstate and Seton Hall and really before that, should never have had that attitude. I expected this team to be a couple wins better by now, but that hasn't happened due to injuries, poor shooting and an attitude that to me seems they have given up.
less than 10K Hokie Club members is just sad to me..that needs to improve..drastically. Until I saw what people were writing in that other thread I knew very little about the HC. I am only 25 and I graduated from Tech in 2010. I have not been contacted by the HC but my gf's dad is a member. I believe he is a Silver Hokie (not exactly sure what that means but I can sorta guess) and I don't know how much he donates but I know it's more than I can afford at this time. Based on the very small amount of information in front of me I just assumed that the HC was kind of elitist and I would have to fork over loads of $$ to be a member. I always figured I would just join later in life when I'm a little more financially stable.
I think improving the Hokie Club and how it interacts with Alumni could go a long way towards improving the financial situation for Tech..not just within the athletic department but also the various academic departments. I think making it clear to Alumni early on that every little bit helps would open up some wallets. I'm sure that I wasn't the only person who assumed being a HC member meant donating a few organs worth each year. If they contact me tomorrow saying any amount is welcome and there's no pressure I would happily cut a check for $100
Very well written, Joe. I was very happy with what I heard today.
And this is why we won't win another game this year. We are making BC look like a good team, which they are far from.
Lot of tickytac fouls going BCs way tonight. They have 11 made free throws so far at 31-21 score with five minutes left in half
Those were exciting Hokies. Def always entertaining to watch
NFL players in general aren't regular contributors to their colleges.
Seems to me that they tend to make big 1-time donations when they do give back.
26-19 BC still killing the three but Eddie seems a man possessed tonight. We have been horrid on defense especially in transition so far
The tweet makes it sound like there was some question whether he was still a VT commit after his season at Hargrave. He's always been a VT commit, and there was never any deviation to from the plan to prep at Hargrave then attend VT...
The only question was whether or not he would qualify - the fact that he did qualify is what those message board & twitter sources confirmed a week or two ago.
