This show is horrendous. Shows eight and nine year olds hitting helmet to helmet and coaches telling kids to hurt opposing players specifically. It should be pulled from TV. My understanding is that the league they are in also had whatever the NFLs designation of a program that holds itself to a specific standard for youth football.
I would agree with you except the Iron Bowl this year convinced me no two fanbases will ever hate each other more than Bama and Auburn.

I agree whole-heartedly with this post, with one exception:
The NCAA is not "getting out in front of it". The rule as it is written has existed for many years, and merely refers to communication. This is not something where the NCAA is savvy about social media and has enacted policy specific to social media.
Don't give them more credit than they deserve.

I feel like I know a celebrity now that I can put a face to a screenname. Just wanted to give you a shout out. You may remember me as the guy who scared the shi* out of you while you were playing drums in the basement at the house on Turner Street...or not it was a couple years ago now. But anyway I was telling him how awesome TKP was and that he should become a member and he told me you wrote for them..I knew exactly who he was referring to.

I can relate in a weird way from my 70's experience after walking on and working my way up from the canon-fodder, white-cotton jerseys as a DB (playing out of position for the team as a center, guard, fullback, linebacker in high school, no college coach could have looked at me seriously) and grading really high in the spring game, I just never showed up for fall camp and still am not sure why. The coaches called a couple of times and asked why I wasn't there and I had no answer for them. Could have been problems with my shoulders, grades, or fear of failure. It could also have been I simply didn't like the DB coach/OC at the time. It took me many, many years to realize he wasn't the idiot my high school was. Under his tutelage, Gene Bunn whom I never thought as expecially physically gifted is still the all-time interception leader. Go trash 'em, smash 'em, Tarashcke. Be a great Hokie.

now that's hatred right there! I work with a guy who is a HUGE FSU fan..he didn't go there but I think his dad and maybe an uncle or something did and he's been a huge fan from birth. He HATES Florida more than I've seen anyone hate anything ever. It's crazy! As much as I hate LOLUVA..and I know some people who hate them even more than I do..the level of hatred between FSU and Florida may be unmatched.
Nothing made punting more fun than Nic Schmidt. Oh god that guy. I used to secretly hope that everyone would blow there coverages on punts so he would get to blow someone up.

It is a lot for a young kid to take in, away from normal support network, tough classes, tough football practice. Just glad he took time for himself, maybe he comes back with a renewed fire.

I heard that FSU revoked Jojo Robinson's scholarship offer after he had already verbally committed. That's a horrible thing for them to do, especially at this stage of the game.
I believe you are talking about C.J. Worton. Yes it does look like FSU may be dropping his offer. But hey that tends to happen when you take a visit to Gainesville and tweet at a fellow commit to see if they are going to join you on your visit...
You guys are fantastic with the details and fun to watch however, you miss the forest for the trees.
NCAA is not attempting to stop an individual from tweeting a recruit. It will happen and they know it.
NCAA wants to prevent twitter from becoming a problem by getting out in front of it. I applaud them for this.
What they want to stop is someone or rather, a group from using twitter to circumvent recruiting rules.
The rule prevents "BOOSTERS" (note important) from contacting recruits using twitter. Please note that the NCAA can define "booster" as opposed to a fan or "some guy conversing with an interesting fellow".
They are going to look for patterns and decide if someone is stepping over the line, then they will define them as a booster and request a stop, etc, etc. They are also going to make sure there is no "organization" to the pattern of contacts to a recruit. If a pattern develops, they will work to stop that or find it's organization and stop them at that point.
This is all pre-emptive. They will not go after the guy that happens to tweet without attempt to conceal or pattern out, "Hey Guy, saw you at the game Friday night, would love you to join Hokie Nation. We have a great school did you like the new weight room when you visited?"
They are after the organized use of twitter as a recruiting tool in an attempt to circumvent the legal number of contacts a coach or school official can have with a kid. There's a limit to the number of times Shane can have a phone conversation with the recruit X. It doesn't mean he can have his cousin tweet him instead and not have it count.
By schools sending out notices to NOT Tweet the recruits, they can show the first step of due diligence in attempting to comply with NCAA rules should some idiot try to do exactly as I stated (and some idiot will), use new media to try and circumvent the rules.

Edit: The NCAA rule, as stated, is an assist to schools to attempt to limit the number of "fan contacts" by allowing to quote the NCAA rule and keep idiots from organizing on their on to contact guys and girls, of interest.

Question; will his football IQ, composure, touch, and intangibles show up a lot in practice, or is practice more of a skills test and going through the motions? Will he have to get into a game situation to really prove himself? I think that will be the biggest factor in whether or not he wins the starting job.

He was pushing for playing time at left guard and looked like he was going to get some first team reps in the fall. He was a perfect fit for Grimes scheme (very good lateral movement) and seemed to be responding to his coaching. I was stunned when he announced that he was leaving the program. It made no sense.
I had a tape deck and a CB radio.
Balls.
