That is simply amazing and i am a dog person.
I am not a VT Hoops guy, but based on how poorly Raines played when he did play, this goes beyond a vindictive shaming because of something he tweeted.
That being said, it is a huge distraction. If he is just going to ride the bench anyway, kick him off the team.

I think I've found our next O-line coach.
Same here. Not on either side in this one, but I thought he would get three years. However with our current play losing to BC will get him canned even by an interim AD at the end of the season. Heck she might have started a search for the new AD to pull the trigger on.
I was worried when we hired a coach with ZERO experience especially in the ACC. I just hope that Tech has been saving the money difference between Greenberg and Johnson so they can get somebody good.

Agreed...and by no means did any of those teams win championships BECAUSE they didn't have 10 win seasons in years previous. There is no correlation. You have to win 12 games to win an NCAA championship, at least.
Getting to 10 is a nice goal and then taking it a few steps further. RocketHokie's point that you have to get to 10 wins to even have a shot. The Hokies have been 1 or 2 losses away from it many times.
I want to be Team Cadarian, but even though he's the "big-bodied center who can score with his back to the basket" this team otherwise doesn't have, I've never actually seen Cadarian consistently score with his back to the basket. He's always been a bit of a Davila, but not quite as derp.
The biggest issue is his foul trouble, for me. Obviously doesn't warrant a benching, but when he was playing well (10 ppg for him) he was fouled out by the second TV timeout of the second half. While I don't think the current situation may be fair, I also don't think we're losing a whole lot more than another big body on the floor.

The past 20+ years is all the evidence you need.
After the debacle that was the 2013 season, the media painted a very negative picture of us as an organization.

This is where I have some problems as a football fan.
What, exactly, is bad coaching?
Poor clock management, certainly, I believe that's bad coaching. But a play failing to work, I'm not so sure how much of that is "bad coaching," and how much of it is, "Gee, now that I saw how the defense came out and played that last play, I would have ran to the left instead of to the right."
Going for it on 4th down inside the redzone when your team has been on the drive and for most of the game moving the ball at will, I don't think that's bad coaching. Just because it didn't work doesn't make it the wrong call, because the call was made before the knowledge of it not working.
Not trying to start up an argument or bring up painful memories, just think that sometimes as fans we have to remember that hindsight is 20/20, and be careful not to change our judgement on play calling simply because of the results.
I've said it before and I'll say it again.

In my opinion, this is a ridiculous comment for JJ to make in front of the media. When pressed, instead of defending his own principles, JJ decided to personally put down Cedarian. He should be building his players and his team up, not belittling them in front of the media. It seems very like a very 16-year old school girl kind of comment to make and I believe he is losing control of this situation. I was a propoent of JJ, and believed he deserved his chance, but this situation is reflecting very badly upon him.
As I read this sentence aloud, and picture JJ's posture while saying it, I'm left with the feeling that this guy is in over his head..
I said this once and I'll say it again. JJ is one of the nicest dudes I have ever met. However, even though we are only half way through his second season as a head coach....the guy is not a great head coach. He is a great recruiter, great assistant coach. But when it comes to disciplining guys and leading a team of young, and sometime egotistic, basketball players...he stinks at it. Seth Greenberg would have chewed out Raines for whatever he did, then told him to get his A** back out there and make a play. And that would of been that. Greenberg was good at always playing the best players, but at the same time making sure they knew who was boss. JJ cant do that. I really am pulling for JJ, cause I like him as a person....but he needs to find a way to gain respect while while winning game.
To me the worst coaching mistake was the fake punt, BUT if CFB kicks a fg on the third trip inside the 20 instead of going for it on 4th down, VT has a 2 score advantage (9-0) and this puts extra pressure on an already struggling UM qb that didn't tie shoes. Once we didn't get the 4th down attempt UM could somewhat relax as they were only one busted play away from taking the lead...and that is exactly what happened....that loss still angers me....VT was clearly the superior team on the field, but were not the best coached team that day...my opinion only.

And the numbers show that Moss had one great year in New York, with the rest mediocre. While in Washington, he had three very good years.
All good points, but I wouldn't say Price, Crawford, Upton and Longoria are "historically" good players when they're all still in the league.

AZHokie22...I definitely agree with you that we have had opportunities and didn't seize them. That is for sure. I certainly have regrets about games that could have gone differently...but I would never take them as a failure.

How can you say winning 10+ games isn't part of winning the championship? The last team to "win a national championship" with less than 10 wins was Florida, back in 1985, who was awarded the national championship by the Sagarin Ratings back when we had multiple national champions.
So your claim that "10+ wins being a stepping stone to a MNCG" being bogus, is in fact, bogus.
As for me claiming that 10+ winning seasons are a source of happiness, yes, they are. I like to win. Winning 10+ games a season but not the big one, is still better in my mind than winning the big one and then being like Tennessee or Miami, and fading back into a mediocre team with fans just babbling about how great they used to be.

This I can understand- he's saying the 10 win seasons covered up our big ugly weakness, which was our offense. As a result, we never fully attempted to address the offense, and it has since degraded further to create our current predicament.
