I can see Mr. Durkin getting on the field next year in a Brandon Connette roll, and playing significant time.
I think Loeffler is more than happy to switch back and forth between a spread read-option and pro-style offenses like he did this year. Considering Leal and Ford are not power-running QBs, Mr. Durkin becomes the best veer runner we have (OK, I'm discounting Motley and Hodges, but Durkin is still probably a better runner).
The the biggest problem Loeffler's offense had last year was red-zone efficiency (and lack of a running game). Duke's biggest strength last year was red-zone efficiency with their multiple packages (the spread veer with Connette.) Duke didn't kick a field goal inside the 10 yd line last year until their last two games; the VT offense was stonewalled by LOLUVA six times inside the 5 yd line on their first drive.
Mr. Durkin, we need you to fix this.

I saw Ju-Ju Clayton at the McDonald's drive thru once on Halloween. The car in front of me yelled out "Ey yo Ju-Ju!" and he went up and talked to them. Then the car behind me yells out "Ey yo Ju-Ju!" and he went up and talked to them. Then I yelled out "Ey yo Ju-Ju, rep Hermitage!" (his high school), so he comes up to me and says "Where you from?" I replied "Patrick Henry." He said "Oh yeah we beat yall."
Then Duan Perez-Means comes up (also from Hermitage), Ju-Ju tells him I went to Patrick Henry. Duan says "Oh yeah we beat yall." Then they leave to talk to another car of kids. And that was my 5 seconds of Ju-Ju fame.
Also in my first ever college class, I sat right in front of Jack Tyler, and had no idea who he was because he still wasn't on scholarship.

Up until the mid-2000s they were a UVA pipeline. Then Groh decided to piss off Mike Smith, which has worked in VT's favor. Has London gotten that many guys other than Watford from Hampton High? I honestly don't know.

Yes, definitely Stiney! He's responsible for implementing the current recruiting plan, to include getting CFB out on the road a heck of a lot more, and sending more than one coach at a time to see recruits. The key item is that he has EVERYONE recruiting and on the road. Plus, he's set up more junior days and had a crowd of recruits come to Tech for every home game - that certainly wasn't done in the past.
And yes, I agree, the new coaches are doing a great job on the recruiting trail. It also doesn't hurt to have three coaches on the staff (Shane, Loeffler, and Grimes) with the SEC killer mentality when it comes to recruiting. Moorehead's from the PAC 12, but I get the impression he's working just as hard or harder than the SEC guys.

Wow, Barlow has coached under John Blake at OU, Mike Locksley at New Mexico and James Franklin at Vandy. That's three of the most ethically challenged coaches in recent memory.

I think the recent uptick in recruiting may have more to do with the new staffs energy and sec mentality. It's not as though tech is dominating stinesprings sweet spot, the 757.

I moved to the US (VA) when I was 17 or so I did not know anything about American colleges at all let alone have a favorite college sports team. I visited the in-state schools VT, UVA and ODU but could only see myself going to VT out of the 3. I also got offered in-state tuition from LSU and WVU so those were my top 3. In the end, it came down to LSU and VT but Tech just felt more like home so I chose VT and it has been a blast!
My first visit to VT was my first Football game ever. It was the GT game in '09 I think. David Wilson returning that kick off to win the game sealed a great visit for the weekend.
One last funny/interesting thing.
I really like Nike Basketball shoes and have been buying them for a while now. The very first pair of shoes that sparked my interest in 3rd grade were these:
At the time I did not know the name or model of the shoe. I just thought they looked cool and begged my parents to buy them. I wore them for a year or so and got rid of them since they were so beat up. Fast forward to last year, I'm browsing ebay for shoes and see the same shoe and sort of freak out because I haven't seen that model since I had them. I look at the model name to see what they are called and what do you know... "Nike Zoom Vick II". Yup, I was rocking Mike Vick shoes when I was in 3rd grade without even knowing it.

Situational QB, and a good one. Definitely a running threat first, Brandon Connette-style bruiser. Seems like a great replacement for Logan, and probably will be a more effective runner. I like to see RB's do most of the running, but this guy's highlights are making me rethink that.
If Loeffler runs the same style of offense he did this year (and I suspect he will) then Durkin is a better fit than Ford IMO. If Loeffler goes with Ford and a drop-back pro style (which will depend on the O-line getting better) then Mr. Durkin looks like an H-back that could play anywhere as well.

If they get Nnadi, that sets up one heck of a 4 man rotation in 2015. And don't be stunned if Nnadi and Walker step right into the two deep, especially if Maddy decides to go to the NFL.

There's Elite 11 Regional Camps around the country. I think about 5. (Texas, Georgia, Ohio, California, DC and Illinois I think.) At these camps, the "experts" choose who advances to the main Elite 11 competition held in Oregon. This past year 18 QB's were selected to go and compete.
At Oregon, they have the Elite 11 competition which is televised on TV and they narrow the list down to the best 11 QB's.
Andrew Ford went to the DC regional and earned the ticket to the main event but he did not make the Elite 11 list at the camp held in Oregon.
Chris Durkin competed at the Illinois regional but did not earn a ticket to the main event.
So to sum it up Chris Durkin is not an Elite 11 QB. As for Andrew Ford, technically he isn't either, but some people use the term Elite 11 QB for the guys who are invited to the camp which Ford was so that's why they use it.
