This I don't even really understand. WINSaTON and the Honorable Johnny Football Presiding are both much more at the center of their systems. McCarron is a handoff/changeup specialist. Sure, when he's asked to make a play he does it with panache, but that's not every single damn down.

No no no no, as someone who as lived in Columbus for over 5 years I refuse to think what VT would look like with Tressell as HC. He ran out of YSU before the NCAA dropped the sanctions on them and lead a culture of NCAA violations at OSU.
I can understand that sentiment. One thing JK Rowling did was write the book to the level of Harry Potter. So in the first book, Harry Potter is 11, so it's written for pre-teens. Each book gets a little bit more adult. In the last book, Harry is 17, so it's pretty much an adult (young adult) novel.
If he's a situational QB his first year, then he will have a limited set of plays to run. He would be a good complement to Leal in the red zone, even as a true freshman.
If a red-zone spread package run by Durkin can turn 10 FG a season into TDs (these numbers are reasonable considering the red-zone performances of VT and Duke last year) then I don't see how they could redshirt him.
They also dropped Xavier Burke from No. 19 to unranked. Classic.

This is the extent of my sci-fi program knowledge.
I didn't watch the 30/30, but I'm not sure basing one's judgement on that program is all that sound. This is a network that is less about news and more about "stories" every day. Tressel was one of their fallen darlings. And who doesn't love a story of redemption?
So pardon me if I don't take ESPN's word as gospel here.
Tressel didn't just "make a mistake". He knowingly played athletes that were ineligible. He lied about whether he knew, then when he knew, then who he knew it from, and he lied when he said he didn't know what to do with the information.
The manner of his lies and his excuses leaves no doubt in my mind that he squarely puts winning far above integrity.
So, no. I don't want Jim Tressel anywhere near Hokie football.
This thread is so great I had to register for the site so I could comment. I only really have one funny story, but here goes:
1) Back when I lived in Lee Hall, it was easy to go to b-ball games--both men and women. The men's team was not so good and the women's team was fun to watch (Lisa Witherspoon at point made it happen). One time as it was nearing half time at a women's game, I turned to my buddy and said, "Hey look! The women's team is gonna score more in one half than the men's team scores in an entire game!" Well, I didn't notice members of the men's team sitting 3-4 rows in front of us and Rolan Roberts gets up and says "WHAT???". Fighting the urge to point to my roommate as the source of the comment, I instead bravely pretened I had no idea who said it until he turned back around.
2) Met Glennon at one of Cav's recruiting talks. He was a pretty nice guy. Asked him why his brother was going to NC state if he wasn't going to get to play but one year due to Russel Wilson (we know now he got two years). He showed me pics of his dog and Eddie Royal's dog (they both have/had puggles) and I tried to convince him to bring his dog to me for vet care. Glennon got a bad rap by the fanbase...after all, who else can say they beat GA Tech wearing a GA Tech jersey (other than maybe Reggie Ball, ba dum bum) Chatted with Cav after the talk too, and without getting into too much detail per his request at those recruiting talks--he had me and some other guys lines up as D-lineman and he was the O-line. I was getting coached by Cav, even if it was for 20 seconds!
3) I was a mediocre basketball player, but my roommate in vet school could run and dribble, but just not at the same time. So when playing pickup at Merryman, and he hits a near half court shot that he took for no apparent reason, it caused Crystal Starling and a few other gals who were yukking it up on the sideline watching our pathetic display of skill, to jump up and start cheering.
4) Lastly, and why am I even mentioning this? Mike Vick borrowed my future wife's vacuum cleaner to clean his apartment.
This is a man who once decided to do this with the Raiders. He was actively trying to get fired.
Bristol is 2016, so whoever would follow Leal in that scenario would redshirt in 2014, then be the starter for the 2015 season.
From my understanding, it counts in the rating. So if players leave early for the NFL, the graduation rate suffers. However, the rating doesn't speak to those that get graduate degrees, or double major, or the like, which I know VT has a lot of athletes that do that.
I think the rule is he can't coach until that date. If he comes back after that he has to sit out 5 or 6 games.
Is Maddy declaring for the draft a real possibility? Just curious as this is the first I've heard/thought of it.
