I'm really interested in some of these recruits and seeing the offers and who we end up getting.
I think this is a crucial class for the new coaches to get some of 'their players' on campus.
It is interesting to see what kind of skill players they are going after.
We already know what Grimes wants-he went out and got it.

Isn't it wonderful how Toilet bowl and LOLUVA were just made for each other. Have so much in common. Just rolls off the tongue quite nicely.

I'm going xb1 for a couple of reasons:

  1. Titanfall - it's an xbox exclusive and looks amazing
  2. I really like the ability to work my TV by shouting at it - "Xbox, on. Virginia Tech." to change to a VT game seems pretty cool to me
  3. For the most part, I imagine the majority of big ticket games will come out for both systems to maximize sales for the developper. As such, I can't imagine the advantage the PS4 has in hardware will really be utilized by too many games
  4. The ESPN app/functionality for XBox could be pretty cool - have my fantasy team get live updates on the side while I watch football?? yes please.
  5. Most of the PS4 apps are also Xbox1 apps. The same isn't really true the other way around

Either way, you're probably going to be in good shape. I can see the arguments both ways - I just think the xbox1 fits my user patterns better.

Did someone call me? I thought I heard my name.

My two cents worth is PS4 due to better single player games of late.

The XBox One is $617 at Walmart... You do realize that for the same price you could buy 60 RAILS FROM TOTS.

I think you know what to do...

"And I'm a sneaky little bee...bzzzz bzzzz"

Probably one of my favorite SP episodes in a while

French, great analysis as always. But at the end, you added this tagline: "And, if you don't and you want the program to be a true national title contender, get your checkbook out and start making huge donations to the Hokie Club and athletic department." I want to point out the fallacy of that statement.

Any organization, be it business, athletics, whatever, has to do things strategically. The resources don't come first - they come after the leader has communicated the vision, goals, and what it will take to get there. The leader's responsibility is to provide strategic intent, and the roadmap for achieving the vision and goals. That is what's lacking in our athletic department.

For example, lets look at that as it pertains to recruiting. People say we have too small a recruiting budget - me included. But time and time again, we have heard from Weaver that our recruiting budget is fine - Beamer gets all he asks for. So sending money to the VTAD with the admonition 'Get better!' won't yield results - it will increase frustation. If the recruiting budget increases it will be because there is a transformation in our recruiting strategy that's tied to doing things we aren't currently doing. People mention Bama as the poster child for great recruiting - they have a staff of ex-coaches who do nothing but evaluate talent and manage relationships. A $1.5 million recruiting budget is connected to a $1.5 million recruiting strategy, which we don't have.

That empty trophy case is supposed to represent a goal, but it doesn't. It represents a wish or a dream. If it represented a goal, the VTAD would communicate, "this is what it will take to put us in a position to achieve that goal, and this is what it will cost to achieve it." Until that happens, people will set their level of contribution based on what the VTAD provides to THEM - season ticket location, parking spot, whatever. Which is ass-backwards, but totally predicable given a lack of strategic intent.

Can't tell if your wife actually answered you via TKP or this is just awesome sarcastica

I wouldn't count on it. That would be shocking.

My brother and I spent the better part of a year mastering the various events. Most difficult for me was that damn hacky sack

but I was absolute boss at skating

and surfing.

Honey, we don't need a bigger TV as the baby is on the way and we need to save money. But if that is what you want, this 80" TV looks great for our living room.

Just voted. Hopefully they can fix the whole "VT University" thing...

You'll get me in the next couple months leading up to Chinese New Year at end of Jan. I am absolutely swamped. Apologies about Beijing too. That week got so crazy and ended up going the opposite direction down to South China that has led to a project in Indonesia. Flying to Jakarta in 2 weeks.... so damn busy.

Did jet lag wipe you out this time too?

Everything Thanksgiving at my house is the same:

1. My mom stresses out to try to make the holiday "perfect"
2. This aggravates everyone
3. Everyone drinks
3. We all yell and the holiday is a mess

For the life of me I could NEVER understand that. Maybe I was being ignorantly unaware in the bliss of his amazing Skillz dat Killz, but I just never understood.
