We lost to duke, BC and me in the same year. I'd chalk that up as disappointing.

Think Leal can take sacks like Logan? Kidding (partly). But seriously, why the hell won't he pull the trigger? He stared at open guys and would throw. But then would throw a perfect ball into tight coverage. The OL will take beating for this one, but I thought they did a pretty good job. Just seemed like Logan wanted more and more time to throw.

Saying the winningest active coach in college football is a "bad" coach is a bit of an overreaction to me, I think. When it gets down to it, the players have to take responsibility. My question is, who on this team is holding them accountable from one player to another?

anyway, it's 5 am here. gotta get some sleep. Hope TKP doesn't explode in unnecessary vitriol by the time I wake up and keeps it classy. UVA is now all about PRIDE. Despite losing and how frustrating this season has been, the team needs to be picked up so they don't implode and lose the Decade of Dominance and Bowl Game.

I can't understand why we are soo inconsistent. How we beat Miami last week and loose this week makes no sense.to me it's all about bad coaching. Bad team leaders learn from bad coaches. Maybe it's time for the Bud Foster era to begin.

Logan played a good game. This game showed the weakness that has been with the team all year: offensive line.
The defense got burned by some runs by CJ Brown in the first half. But those were all broken plays. That was shut down in the second half. In my view, the offensive line lost this game.

Well, give us the obvious fumble returned for a touchdown, and learn how to cover a kick on special teams and we win by 14...

Offensive line played one of the worst games I've ever seen. Even on completed throws, Logan hardly had any time. Pressure was up the MIDDLE the ENTIRE game (looking at you, WANG). French is going to tear him apart in the film review. There were MULTIPLE PLAYS were 76 was not blocking ANYONE.

It is bad. I agree. I'm just having a hard time figuring out which element of the game failed the worst. The D gave up 315 total yards - not bad, but above our average. They also forced 2 turnovers, which the O did nothing with. Unfortunately, the TD on the fumble recovery was "confirmed" on video review. The D did get gashed for several big plays, both on the ground and through the air, but we saw that was a weak link last week when Miami score 2 TDs of 80+ yards.

Special teams broke down and gave up yet another kick return. Inexcusable in Beamer's system.

Offense did absolutely jack squat when it needed to the most. Play-calling and O-line play where continually frustrating and I think I was the most agitated when we had the ball.

Hell, it was a team loss..the defense gave up to many yards on the ground, special teams gave them 7 and missed a fg, then there's the offensive line or lack there of, and finally how can we forget the play calling with good field position on back to back drives..ugh!

The O-line and ineffective play calling. I've been behind Loeffler and Logan all the way, and it's like you said, Logan did decently. But 3rd and 4, you chuck a deep ball? 2nd and 1, you run JC Coleman up the middle? Wow, just too cute, way too cute.

I agree- we were pushed around today. But I feel like we also weren't playing nearly at the level this team is capable of playing at. For example, the Miami game was evidence of what this team can be. My point is - if we can play that well, and yet the players consistently do not play that well, what is the reason for that? I think it's leadership, or a lack thereof.

Agree that the Oline looked bad.

That said, those last 2 possessions in regulation where we wasted great field position with a game plan that forgot the run game were all on Loeffler, IMO.

I'll wait for the film review to see for sure.

I think we can fairly say it was a team defeat, as all parts had breakdowns.

The score at the end of the first half.
The inability to bring down Md's QB on broken plays.
The ST failures.
The Offensive play calling and execution.

Maryland played a hell of a game. But they got a lot of help.

hey we're right where we thought we'd be...we didn't think this is how we were going to get here...but we figured before this season we had about an 8-4 team...we have a chance to beat loluva and be just that 8-4

this is a disappointing loss but we need to keep our heads

Our defense gave up 20 points; no arguing that. They can't be expected to hold every team to 10 points. Regardless of the D's decent performance today, the offense was rough (bad OL blocking and questionable play calling). I don't disagree with you that the defense wasn't at their best, but they still played good enough for us to win.

Brown deserves major props. OL and play calling were shit. But these were back-ups playing one of the nation's best D. They shouldn't have scored, let alone beat us.

There is a lot of blame to go around but I just can't get past that. So many injuries for Maryland on offense and they still beat our Defense.

Let's step using the "lesser opponents" line. When you get pushed around by Duke, Maryland, and BC...we just might be the lesser opponent

It's days like this I reeeeally wish the season was longer so each game wouldn't mean as much. Then again, I'm a Hokie fan. I would feel this way

This season is a complete f-king failure and embarrassment. F-k ALL of the people responsible for our 7-4 record. F-k them ALL!

And back to being a national punchline. How do we expect to be taken seriously on a national level if we put in performances like that? Simply a dismal performance and effort today by the hokies.

In other news, I'm going to go watch Love Actually and drink red wine. Defeat hugs all around. We need them right now.
