Or maybe I could be wrong and Jim Weaver should have found a way to play Miami and Georgia Tech every game.

Alright, I'm excited about Leal starting next season but this made me lose it.

yes, the plethora of "TRUE" fans... we know, we know

And condescending? nope, still just grammar dude

I'm still not sure I fully believe that, but on the same token, I don't think the offensive struggles have been entirely Logan's fault. We can all agree that his first year under center was outstanding, but he had some outstanding surrounding talent and the offensive game plan allowed that surrounding talent to showcase their abilities. Hell, Jarrett Boykin was making Scott Tolzien look like a real NFL starter yesterday. After the mass exodus of the experienced skill position players and Logan's success in his first year, it seemed to me that our coaching staff became infatuated with the idea that we had the second coming of Cam Newton at the helm and they game planned accordingly as though Logan needs to take over the game ... every game.

I feel as though the new coaching staff fell into the same rut and hence, our offense continued to struggle. I think the surrounding skill players (receivers especially) slowly developed a little Georgia Tech syndrome, where what you practice during the week doesn't translate well on the field on Saturdays simply because you just block and watch the same running play over and over and over again. So when one of Josh Nesbitt's/Tevin Washington's dead ducks do miraculously find a wide open receiver, he has a higher tendency to drop it due to the lack of actual consistent experience in a game. I think our skill players may have fallen victim to that same problem.

In order to grow and improve, people need to be given an opportunity to do so. Practice and studying will only get you but so far. Anybody whose ever started a new job in a field that seems somewhat foreign to them can attest to this. Actual on the job experience is far more valuable than any training or practice. Our gameplan against Miami put other players (specifically running backs) in position to better contribute to our success and that clearly helped Logan elevate his game accordingly. I don't want to take too much away from Logan's great game, but I think most QB's could have had equivalent success against that Miami secondary. I've never seen receivers so open in my life. [I immediately take that back. We've all seen Danny Coale play].

My point is, you put another QB in place of Logan, and I think our coaches call a more balanced game, which is likely more effective than forcing one guy to account for ~90% of your offense (regardless of how big he may be).

What's not to love? In addition to the good execution, the Hokies played hard. The bounces going VT's way were the result of players hustling to the ball and playing there nuts off.

Few other comments:

1. On the Trey Edmunds long 3rd-down conversion from the flat, Wille Byrn came flying across the field from his slot position and provided an effective shield block that helped Trey spring loose. Huge effort play there by Willie...

2. On the Josh Stanford long 3rd-down conversion, Trey Edmunds did the exact same thing. He came flying across the field with bad intentions, whiffed, but provided enough of a shield block to help Josh get loose. Later on that Standford TD same play, Willie Byrn leveled a Cane DB along the sideline. Swag.

It's these types of hustle and effort plays that I loved on Saturday. It's these types of plays that require mental toughness, and I'm glad the team bounced back and demonstrated that toughness after 2 tough losses in a row.

Thanks for sacrifice and going the distance so we can enjoy our freedoms.

Virginia Tech football would be nothing without you. Thank you veterans for all you do! God Bless the U.S.A!

FWIW, there's really not a horrible seat in BofA. I've had Panthers season tickets in the upper end zone & you can still see everything fine. I've sat in the first row, at the very top & everywhere in between, it's always more fun in the middle of the crowd, but I've never been disappointed with a seat.

Thanks for your service!

For clarity's (Hi, Clarity) sake I will switch the phrase "disrespectful" to condescending. There. Better? Look, you've got your opines and observations while I've got mine. That's that. I will continue to show the respect that Stinefuck deserves...which is zero UNTIL he somehow discovers his gonads and comes forward to admit his transgressions against the staff, the team, the fans, the school and the commonwealth itself. Until such time he will continually be labeled a coward NOT just by myself, but a plethora of others. As such he will be the subject (deservingly) of degradation. I'm done with this...for now.

OUT WITH THE NEGATIVITY! IN WITH THE TURKEY LEGS!

Thanks to French and Mason, people actually thought I was some sort of football guru. I would break down and explain what just happened after each play, the formation, the blocking scheme, etc. I just sat there in my hooded poncho at the game like some sort of hokie jedi master.

The people that wanted Leal to start don't come on TKP after wins, only after losses so they can bitch about how the quarterback who holds all the school records and just did something that no other QB under Beamer has done (two consecutive 300+ yd games) is the worst QB ever

If it makes you feel any better, my buddies and I went ahead and bought tickets last week, even after the BC debacle.

Didn't hurt that the package included a $25 seat (probably nosebleeds) and a Chick-Fil-A sandwich. Depending on the day, I'd sometimes be willing to pay that much just for the sandwich.
