Great post! I was fortunate to attend the USC game that year along with the Miami win (I can still picture Eddie on that crossing route then getting called some choice words by Miamians as my drunk wife is running down the sidewalk screaming Gobble Gobble Gobble) then the Sugar Bowl with the almost great comeback against Awwwbern! (entire rack of test tube shots anyone!) Hope LT3 finds some rhythm Saturday! Let's GO!
For the tickets remaining that aren't student tickets, they could sell blocks of them to local business to use/give away/etc. I'm sure 105.3 would take them in a heartbeat based on how much they advertise the tickets they give away to every home game.
Not to mention Jim Davis batting down 2 (?) passes to keep Miami out of the end zone in a close one at the OB.

Now that I'm gonna have a degree from UGA once we play the 2016-7 games, this would get rather interesting between me and my friends if that does end up being the opponent.
I've always wanted us to play UGA as retribution for that 06 bowl game that may or may not have happened.
If the tickets are on stubhub they have already been bought in the first place, whether they go to the game or not doesn't help the sell out*. It's a matter of the tickets remaining with the athletic department. I read somewhere (I believe hokiesports, but I can't find it right now) but it said students can still pick up a ticket from cassell thursday and friday for free. So students wouldn't waste money for a raffle when they can get it for free.
*Kind of like how everyone is trying to sell their student ticket on FB. Looks like some kids might lose their tickets since they are trying to sell more than face value and the ticket office checks there to prevent stuff like that.

how bout this idea:
The University can raffle off tickets to students for $5 online. (students only)
Each student that enters will receive a randomly generated number. On gameday (or whenever the ticket office is open) Students can take printout of email with # (or barcode) to the ticket office to see if they won.
Let's say the average face value price of tickets remaining is $40 - @1000 tickets that's $40K
For example- if 5000 students enter raffle that generates $25K
(but more importantly keeps the streak alive)
thoughts?- could this work?- why or why not.

That's another good play, though once in a while they don't fall for the play fake and my QB dies. There's also PA Y-Cross out of the Ace Twin TE set where if it works the receiver is running wide open.
My go-to play whenever I need 5 yards or less is the slant out of the spread. Against better opponents I try to score with no time left, then go for 2 for the win with a slant. It works so well I got f-bombed for it by an FSU fan.
With our schedule, expecting more wins this year than last is not at all unreasonable. Too bad we don't have a chance to stomp on wvu, at least in regular season this year.
WF at BC -3.5 - Wake Forest. This is the same BC, right? Wake has to be used to playing in front of lame crowds so I'm sure they'll handle Chesnutt Hill without batting an eyelash.
UF -2.5 at da U - Florida. I can't buy the ACC still.
Oregon -21.5 at uva - Oregon. Please run it up, Ducks.
Sakerlina at UGA -3.5 - USC. Georgia got smacked by Clemson and lost Malcolm Mitchell in the process. This will be a close game but in the end the extra preparation and less pressure will allow USC to get the W.
wvu at OU -20.5 - OU. I expect WVU's defense is look helpless, and plan to enjoy every moment of it.
ND at Michigan -3.5 - Michigan. Losing Robinson is probably a net positive for Michigan.

Box handles the Mascot Mock. I think he stopped doing it since we tend to play the same teams every year. Might be good to have for just non-conf teams for variety though.
This guy is a senior unfortunately, he's just more interested in the attendance at the UVA spring game than our home opener against WCU.

Honestly I think the thing it comes down to is price/time. Think about it, Blacksburg isn't the easiest place to get too, 81 is a mess as well. I am from Richmond and the biggest complaints I hear from older alum who have season tickets is its hard to justify dropping 300+ per person for season tickets, dedicating 6+ hours of drive time and money for food/alcohol, etc for every game, especially if we arent winning games a la last year. Also the fact that hotels have a 2 night minimum for game weekends is a huge deterrent for non season ticket holders who may not be able to spend a whole weekend in Blacksburg and live too far away for an up a back trip to the burg. I know this post is a whole ramble of stuff, but this is things I've gathered since being at tech and through my discussions with alumni and parents of students. Dropping prices, especially for single games should be done, I went to a skins game last year for cheaper than I could go to a tech game (minus the food).
