i may be very wrong. but i can't see one runner getting any kind of game going or hitting their stride when they are only in for one series or a few plays at a time. it seems like they get a few short runs then are gone for a few series. maybe the coaching staff doesn't trust them fully yet. has anyone else noticed this? i may be wrong and just missing something but i'd love to see coleman, holmes or scales more and not just sitting in pass protection

Oh, I'm feeling much better already. GT scored on their first play from scrimmage vs UVA
The D looked slow overall and when players managed to get in position they dove at the RBs' legs and failed to wrap up.
Another big issue was the play calling. I used to bitch about the unimaginative run plays but at least they picked up a couple first downs and let our D catch its breath; w/ O'Cain's three rapid fire passes they only get a minute or two break. You need to keep things simple. Although in theory a wide variety of plays and formations could create confusion, I prescribe to the KISS theory in that you master a smaller number of drills.
I don't have much football experience but I've spent time leading units and I know you need to hold people accountable when they fail. You can stand by them for a while in the hopes of correcting small issues, but is seems like Beamer's loyalty to his staff comes at the cost of the overall unit.
The funny thing is I still see us as Coastal favorites with the GT win in our pocket. Who's going to challenge? Ineligible UNC who just lost to WF? GT who needs us to lose two (possible) and to stay undefeated (unlikely)? Miami? UVA? This team looked miserable, but I have less confidence in the rest of that list.
Have to think we'll turn it around-ish, win close games against the ACC, claw back into the rankings, beat up on a division of midgets, and then get creamed by FSU/Clemson in the ACCCG.
I'm thinking we plummet right on out of the rankings. There is no way after that performance that anyone is going to think we belong in the top 25.

What good is 17-19 million in TV revenue IF WE CAN'T WATCH THE BALLGAME? Sad reality is that those TV revenues come from ESPN marking up their services to distributors, distributors marking up theirs costs to us. So every time you pay your TV bill, you're making an involuntary contribution to the Hokie Club, along with the rest of the country.

Add in play calling sequence. It's obvious we are missing the previous five seasons of dynamic RBs (play Edmunds!)... But LT is missing his reads and audibles consistently and we are failing to get any push in the interior.
