The TV execs are criticized, but as a faceless entity, commercials, game run time, ESPN doing every thing to ruin the sport all take center stage, but there isnt a face of it, there isnt some person to be the scapegoat to put the blame on. You say ESPN is screwing things up and Kenny Mayne shrugs, agrees, and then goes back to whatever hole they've stuck him in. Arch Manning has a face, it has warby paper glasses on it, much easier to blame him.

Agreed, and i could see him only giving to basketball, but it sounds like he was barely giving at all and he LOVES basketball.

Tough season indeed, if I wasn't at the Liverpool v. Tottenham game this past April to see us win the league, I would be far more bitter about this season. Honestly that euphoria is still present, and honestly I'm chalking this season up to adapting to a slew of new players. The turnover was too severe, and the loss of Jota plays a bigger role than I think most Red supporters are willing to say.

Diaz wanted to leave, so there wasn't much we could do about that, and Nunez pressing we miss for sure, but again, his inability to finish in front of the goal counteracted the pressing monster he was.

Salah's sunshine is starting to set, and I honestly think they resigned him simply as a poker chip to sell to the Saudi league by the summer.

I hate that Guehi fell through, but I think our problems are far greater than that deal falling through. We lack width on the left side, pressing on the right side (when Salah is playing), and I think we need a deep lying midfielder that can push the ball further forward with a clinical pass. Ryan is a #8 posing as a #6, he's great on the turn, but he lacks that passing skillset from deep. Lastly, we haven't bought a CB in YEARS outside of Leoni's purchase, so we're kind of up creek without a CB, especially with an aging VVD and Konate leaving in the summer.

TL;DR: 500M spent on a lot of opportunistic players, without filling the holes we needed to fill. And it's biting us in the arse; Arsenal deserve to finally get the league, they've waited 22 years, and even though their fans will be unsufferable when they finally get it, the league is better when there's parity, and LFC/MC are the only two teams to win it over the last 8 years, it's time for some change...

All that to say, Up the Mighty Reds, and we'll keep fighting till the final whistle this season...

Updated with highlights FAM

Two weeks later and Mika had himself a day against Philly who enjoys just going nuclear on. Another hat trick and I think the only win since the Winter Classic. Rangers pulled out the "retool letter" yesterday in case you didn't see so Panarin and anyone without a NMC or considered a top prospect is on the table. Necessary, but sucky that we are already at this point again.

They've already put out sketch ups of the Bears stadium in Gary

Indiana state legislature has already made overtures at annexing parts of Illinois. As someone who spends a lot of time in Springfield, I can tell you that's massively unpopular with the people who would have to approve that.

Your money makes a more direct impact now. I think it makes sense not to throw big money at the program when it was going to ambiguous facility promises, and then break the bank when you can buy a roster.

Danny Kannell agrees with you

I don't agree with it because of exactly what you said

he's there to make $$ and put out film for NFL Scouts

If you want to put the best film out there for the NFL (and maximize your future earnings) you should be looking for a competent team. He should know after last year that when your coach gets fired midseason that a lot of things can start to fall apart which can make your film look worse than you actually are. Norvell is on the hottest of hot seats. That's not a good place to get solid film. There are plenty of other options to get a decent bag and put out solid film.

Poindexter may have stayed because rumor was as a Hoo he never wanted to go to VT. Terry Smith was a priority retention by Campbell, are we surprised that a hardcore PSU alum stayed in State College? Was there discord or was everything just kind of chaotic because the head coach got fired, much like it is at any program that fires the HC?

I do think the players following Knowles and Dex to Tennessee is the main driver.

Lastly, my concerns from last week have been mostly allayed because more players are in the boat and a significant portion from PSU. I'm not fully satisfied, but I am overall pleased.

Had to accelerate things with the Olympic break coming up, obviously. It's pretty clear any option beyond Vladar is ass and they don't have the offense to compensate

Wasn't the narrative that Franklin would take the PSU roster to Blacksburg? Isn't that what other coaches have done?

Obviously now that we're at the end of the portal what I was saying has faded because Franklin has taken a lot of PSU guys to Blacksburg, just not the one year instant impact guys.

instead of chasing a natty coming off a 3-8 season

I never said chase a natty, or even consider it. I said run at the playoffs, which in the ACC shouldn't be that difficult. You make the ACCCG and then you probably have a coin flip chance at winning it, which would be an automatic playoff berth unless you inexplicably make the ACCCG with 5 losses.

I don't like this. Pribula is far from the best QB they could've gotten, but he absolutely has the ability to put a team on his back, create chaos, and win a game. I'm glad that we got Grunk and not Pribula, but I much rather would've had UVA land on a guy like Holstein or worse because Pribula is just dangerous enough to make that game risky.

Advantages: retirement benefits, likely get life health insurance, guaranteed contracts, regulations around what happens when you get cut

The benefits of the Wild West are mostly reaped by the top players, the majority of players are subject to changing whims and few guarantees while getting taken advantage of by unregulated "agents"
