I like what we did with the secondary in this class.

Typically, though it's still challenging, younger guys have a better chance at success in positions like that than they do up front. We have some length on the back end with the prospects who have signed.

I can't see them getting either of those guys for a multitude of reasons. That said, your recruiting class is already screwed so why be in a hurry at this point, I guess?

the only way that works out is if Deboer goes to PSU in time for Kiffin to backstab LSU. That would be hilarious enough to be worthwhile.

They're trying their hand with Freeman from ND and Deboer from Alabama. That's what I've heard has been the hold up in announcing a hire - playoff potential is preventing an announcement.

Not sure I ever bought that though especially given the recent Sitake news.

If I might ask a fishing adjacent question...

I need to get a trailer repaired to bring a boat back to Roanoke for rehab. The boat is located in the Northern Neck of Virginia (Lancaster County), and I have the parts for repair (hubs, wheels, tires) but need to find someone who can install them. With my knees and back I can't manage it on my own right now.

The studs and lug nuts are so rusted, one of them came off in my hand when I grabbed it. I would rather not drive too far with it before this, so I am looking in the area of Tappahannock --> Reedville --> Urbanna.

This is a boat I have lusted after for years, and my buddy finally sold it to me. It is a NorthCoast 18, center console with a t-top. NC18

Thanks folks.

I underestimated Franklin too. I think a lot of our doubts come from the repeated accusation that Blacksburg and the VT brand had an inherent recruiting ceiling that no coach could break through. It is now clear that the right brand of coach will get the recruits to come.

I also think that Pry laid down the groundwork in re-establishing the VT brand as the premier Mid-Atlantic brand. But he could not outcompete (and to a certain degree would not challenge) the best Mid-Atlantic recruiter in James Franklin.

I don't know what the recruiting ceiling is for a JF-led Hokies, but I think it is just as high as Clemson/FSU/Miami now.

Ambitious goals I think we can see soon: For 2027, I want to see VT sign a top 100 recruit, a top 3 VA recruit, and 8+ OL/DL again. By 2028, I hope to see a 5-star recruit sign.

It would also be nice to see it translate onto the field into top 4 ACC finish as soon as the 2027 season, bona fide at-large playoff contender by 2028.

I can totally understand all of this as rational for wanting to move on. What I just can't wrap my head around is how a school as big and seemingly well run as Penn State didn't have a contingency plan in place when they pulled the trigger. They did it early enough that they should've been able to get one of their top choices.

Goal #1 should've been to make sure that they don't lose all the momentum they had built under Franklin. If they weren't prepared for that, why not grit it out this year and see how next year goes (with a better plan in place if it doesn't go well). The longer this goes, the more it looks like a full rebuild for them. I'm sure a lot of their current roster is headed to the portal soon.

I'm confident they'll get back towards the top of the Big Ten, but it's certainly going to be at least a couple of years before that happens. I don't see how their AD survives this mess.

Back at ya I havent been down as much as I would like this summer. I've gotten alot of phone calls from my elder aggravated and asking for better spots to try to find fish as most trips were pretty fruitless still finding drum but the trout have been few and far between. I actually added another light to the dock testing one thats a regular spotlight mounted low to the water vs the green light to see if one outdoes the other. Crabs were bountiful this year which was a nice plus and the oyster haul has been good as always.

Managed one good trip out of oregon inlet for trout and drum in the summer but outside of that saltwater was a miss I had a cobia trip collapse due to work but hoping next summer will be better in getting out a bit more. Passed on a trip on the james last wednesday to go nap in the deer stand and I think I made the right call on that.

Next time I see anthony rosano play down there I'll look ya up since he likes to play down that way a bit.

Saw that earlier. It was the Give em Hell podcast and they were encouraging donations of like 30.17 which was the score BYU beat them by the last time they played
