Good to hear from you 'nator. I've thought of you every time I go by your folk's house on the East. You've missed nothing this season in the local waters. Last year was pretty good and the trout should rebound well next year, so you should be getting fish around your dock worth messing with. My best to your family.

Checked my email and saw one from VT announcing the hire of James Franklin and another from TKP announcing its open to all.

I'm assuming this means the hold up with the Franklin hire was Sexton was making sure TKP would be open before Franklin signed

And they're still young. Wouldn't really expect any of those 2024 or 2025 kids to do anything until next year anyways.

Ramps here in the Mid-Pen are literally empty. No stripers have shown. No birds, no bait, no boats, no fish. I have heard charter boats out of Reedville are fishing north and catching some in the 20s, but a ton of charters are dropping out and my buddy, who's gone for a lot of years, has decided it wasn't worth the time and money to troll up barely keepable fish and only one apiece at that. I will likely fill the tank and tarp the boat next week and hope for better days.
Plan here is to hang a couple more years then move to the Shenandoah Valley. Bridgewater, between Staunton and Harrisonburg. Final move for a couple of old folks, and I'll miss the red fishing here for sure, but maybe some walleye on the Shenandoah? Anyway, anybody wanting to buy a boat or some heavier fishing rods and reels cheap, let me know. I'm officially done with anything here other than light tackle in-shore fishing. French gets first pick, 3rd Gen second.
Nice to finish up this miserable year, and I'm excited enough about the Franklin era to blow off the horrible fishing. I do save a bunch of ire toward Omega Protein and their unconscionable rape of the menhaden in the Chesapeake Bay. They should be docked for at least 5 years to allow for the recovery of the menhaden and striper and recently noted, the osprey population that has suffered from their greed at the public trough.
Anybody know anybody with any pull in the Va. Legislature? If change is to come, it will have to come from there.

Our Advent recruiting calendar keeps on giving. So looking forward to improved offensive line play. French pointed out how much the run blocking has improved. Hope for the pass blocking to catch up and we can have the first truly good offensive line at VT since, what, the early 2000s? It has been so long, it is hard to remember.

A mere 77% so far. Let's see if we can pump these numbers.

I pop in and out at times, and was gonna potentially cut the TKP cord, but things started happening to bring life back to VT football. I don't really track other VT sports aside from rooting for the jersey.

Had a kid this year, had a jobless stretch, going through the process of starting a new one now, and broke my leg back in August, which is healing in time to deal with this winter's weather.

Welcome back to those who took a break, glad the doors are back open and hopefully a few more of y'all join us with the nifty key logo when you can

Feels so good to be back huge kudos to those who made it happen, raising a family means tight strings for a bit and I greatly appreciate having this space to discuss things sports and all the rest. The attitude around everything in the world of VT feels like a huge boost and I hope it continues.

I have become more interested in tornado documentaries. I'm watching one on the Jarrell texas tornado of 1997. That dead man walking image is terrifying

I love that Ped State is now competing with UAB, Cal, North Texas, UCONN, Memphis, USF, Tulane, Coastal Carolina, and JMU for coaching candidates. They've been open about the longest and they're the last "big" job left on the board and I imagine they won't be the first to fill their opening. I genuinely hope PSU ends up with John Rudzinski or something epic like that.

you're not wrong - it could certainly happen. Especially if we start the season unranked. An unranked-to-start-the-season-ACC-Champ is not a lock for the playoff IMO. But a 4 loss LSU team that started the season 19th is going to be the 5th SEC team into the 12 team field.

I've thought about it and we could be the first team to go 17-0
12-0 in the regular season. Win the ACCCG 13-0. ACC gets disrespected by the committee (because, of fucking course we would...they'll break every precedent known to man but that one) and we don't get a first round bye for the playoff so we have to get through 3 rounds just to reach the final, 16-0. Win the whole damn thing. 17-0 baby.

I know somebody named Seel (last name) who enlisted into the Navy's UDT school. I can't speak to the veracity of the story that, when queried on his desire to become a SEAL he replied, "Hell, my sister's a Seel," but knowing him, it's possibly true.

Still no word from Sitake about BYU or PSU, but the best comment from the most recent reddit thread reads thusly:

There is no question that when all is said and done Kalani will be coaching blue and white mountain lions who peaked in the 1980s.
