Virginia Tech opened up the game with a 9-0 run in the first two minutes and never looked back, steamrolling Georgia Tech 102-77 Sunday at Cassell Coliseum. The Hokies were dominant from start to finish, hitting 14 of their first 17 shots from the field en route a 44-19 advantage 14 minutes into the game. The victory pushed Tech's ACC record to 6-4 and was their 12th win in their last 15 games.

Malcolm Delaney came out on fire, hitting his first six shots en route to a 33-point performance, four points short of his career high. The senior guard hit 9-of-14 from the field, including three-of-four from beyond the arc, and nailed 12-of-14 from the charity stripe. Delaney scored 22 of his 33 in the first half, including four straight free throws as a result of two technical fouls on Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt. The two T's during a media timeout resulted in Hewitt's ejection from the game with less than eight minutes remaining in the first half.

The Hokies ended up shooting 68 percent (17 of 25) from the field in the first half for a 53-37 halftime advantage. The Jackets got within 13 on a Glen Rice three-pointer at 56-43, but the Hokies went on a 22-5 run to open up a 30-point lead halfway through the second half. The only question remaining was whether the Hokies would surpass the century mark, which they did on a Ty Garland three-pointer with 37 seconds remaining.

Jeff Allen recorded his fifth consecutive double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Allen hit 10-of-15 from the field, including multiple high-flying dunks (GIFs to come soon) to notch his 12th double-double of the season and 40th of his career. Erick Green responded from his poor play at Boston College by scoring 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting, including 3-for-3 from three. Terrell Bell added 13 and Victor Davila poured in 11. Despite scoring 102 points, the Hokies got only five points from their bench on the three from Garland and a jumper from Paul Debnam.

The 102 points were the most scored by a Hokies team in an ACC game, and the highest point total in regulation for a Tech team since a 102-50 victory against Maryland-Eastern Shore in 2004.

Tech doubled up the Jackets on the boards, 42-21, and shot 55.8 percent from the field. In fact, the Hokies had more offensive rebounds (15), than GT had defensive rebounds (14). VT also forced 30 points off 14 Jacket turnovers, while GT got just 11 points off 14 Hokie turnovers.

The Hokies now sit in sole possession of fourth place in the ACC and a face a crucial turnaround game when the Maryland Terrapins visit Blacksburg on Tuesday night. Tip-off from Cassell is set for 8 p.m.
