Preseason rankings are a joke. They really don't matter. They should do away with them. Preseason rankings are a hype meter, marketing tool for TV, and nothing much more than that (in my opinion).
With that being said, I am glad we are ranked. However, I have noticed some posts on the site stating that being ranked lower (lowest preseason ranking since 2004 where we began the season unranked) may be more beneficial to a younger, unproven team. I wonder how the rest of hokie nation feels about it? We have grown accustomed to being ranked higher than this in the preseason and it usually ends up biting us in the ya know (especially when we open the season with a big time opponent, crosses fingers for gt).
I'd like to see some discussion about how everyone feels about it. Not if you think we should be higher than 20 or do we deserve to be higher than 20 based on our previous big game blunders (I understand why the nation is starting to question us but that's a whole 'nother topic). Just thought it would be interesting to get some reaction on our 20th seed rank. Good or bad for this Hokies team?
