Thank You Erick Green

We all grow up admiring those we either claim or are presented to us as superheroes. It shows the best in us to aspire to be like those who give so much while asking for little in return. When faced with adversity these people continue to deliver for the simple justification of wanting to help those around them. 
 
With all of this talk of Player of the Year and scoring output versus the rest of the nation we seem to be selfishly missing the point of what Erick Green has brought us this year. Our school motto is that of Ut Prosim, "That I May Serve". The phrase is simple but it is inherint to the nature of being a Hokie. So who better to represent that than a young man who night in and night out brought his best in order to give the rest of his team a chance.

Like he has all season, Green humbly gave his all and brought on another great performance. Then, when others might take the chance to advertise their laurels; he simply tweeted out "Thank You #HokieNation" showing once again that he has never thought this was just a show where he was the leading star. 
 
Going into March Madness analysts and aficionados alike will talk about where Green may fit in terms of national or even conference recognition. As it has happened in the past fans will also angrily associate the results with the great snubbing of Virginia Tech in the world of college basketball. That doesn't matter however, because when it comes to our little corner of Virginia he'll remain one of our favorites, one of our superheroes.
