So this was my first game back in the burg in a number of years and had a few thoughts:
1) Ran into Moorehead and Isaiah Ford. I'm not sure how tall Moorehead is but Ford is only about an inch shorter than him. A big receiver that can catch? Yes please. He and his parents looked very comfortable with Moorehead which I hope is a good sign.
2) Ran into Worsham, that dude is an OG. There's not much bigger of a baller than him.
3) Those Orange unis were hideous. They reminded me of the Browns, which is about how we played
4) I was in the West and seemed to be the only one making noise unless they were lined up in front of us, that saddened me.
5) I've never heard so many people hate on their own team. Any time LT did anything there were numerous people shouting ridiculous things at him. I get that he's polarizing, but come on. If you don't like it then leave. Same thing with Journell. People are booing him when he runs out? I get he's not the most likable guy but damn.
6) Trey tripped on 2 different runs that may have gone for TDs. Also after watching him DEMOLISH the Duke LB, I'm officially on the #TreyforLB bus.
7) The offense as a whole was BAD. I'm very interested the see what the WRs catch efficiency was for this game. LT wasn't sharp, but I counted at least 2 of those picks were tips from the WRs. I didn't have a good enough angle to see if they were catchable or not though.
8) Kendall Fuller is ridiculous. Him and Facyson holding it down for a couple years makes me happy. Clark looked pretty good as a Nickle. Kendall almost had a 4th pick and dropped what was probably the easiest catch of them all.
9) I didn't notice Exum much, but that's probably a good thing.
10) Dadi Nicolas plays like a man possessed. You don't see it on TV but during the timeouts and stops he's running around yelling at the other team, jumping around. The guy has a motor that doesn't quit. As he becomes a more well-rounded player he's has the potential to be unstoppable.
11) The Defense feeds off the crowd. I was happy that the crowd got pumped when the D needed them.
12) A special thanks to French, Mason, and this community as a whole. As I was watching the game I've never paid as much attention to formations and alignments as I did. I told my wife a couple times who to watch for and what the play was probably going to be (not sure if that's good or bad though).
13) I ran into Ed Wang on the way out of town. He's a large dude. Apparently he got hurt and cut from the Bills and is looking for a team right now. Seriously though, he's HUGE.
Overall it was great to be back. After reading all the negativity around the fan base I was expecting worse than I saw. The East and South seemed to stay full for the whole game and I didn't see any paper airplanes. I hope the Offense takes a long look in the mirror because our D deserves better.
One game at a time. We still can make it to Charlotte.
