ECU Injury Report

Out

J.C. Coleman (ankle)
Antone Exum (knee)
Dakota Jackson (ribs)
Charley Meyer (hamstring)
Mark Shuman (knee)
Devin Vandyke (knee)

Probable (75% chance a player will play)

Andrew Miller (ankle)
Tyrel Wilson (knee)

On the one hand, it's not terrific news that Coleman is out. However, Mangus has really performed well in limited opportunities. The Meyer and Coleman injuries are ones that'll nag throughout the entire season. Hope they rest up, then come back healthy for the long haul.

It's good news that Miller will probably play.

Definitely not good news on Coleman, but the injury happened in practice and not against WCU. I really think that once Exum is cleared, he should still sit out 2-or-so-weeks to be on the safe side. Then again, I'm not an athletic trainer nor a physician. I really want him to finish on a high note with the Hokies, and to move on to better things in the Pros.

Fortunately, we've got some solid HB options to work with.

I'd probably sit Miller this week, just to be on the safe side.

honestly i hate saying this but if he doesnt stay healthy i can see j.c. ending up like david wilson where the talent around him cuts on his playing time. Mangus i think might play his way into staying at tailback and i have a feeling caleb is going to be a stud, with trey obviously being our lead back. hopefully we can get him back healthy by ACC play just to give us another weapon, but at this point it might be awhile until he is effective.

Give JC another year and 8-10 more pounds and he is going to be nasty. 4.4, shifty, and he runs hard. He's gonna be fine on the depth chart, there's a reason why he and Trey were co-1's on the depth chart. It's not like JC was the feature back last year and he's fallen off the face of the planet. As much as we want to run the ball, we need a stable of studs.

JC will be missed as a change of pace guy which Mangus fills in nicely as but I have this gut feeling Joel Caleb is eventually going to be a great back in my non expert humble opinion. The vision he showed on that TD run (yes against inferior competition) was impressive and he just made it look so easy and he seems to have power and a nasty burst that he showed on a few of the other runs. Will be fun watching these guys develop. Bummer about Charley Meyer everyone was so high on him will take him time to figure things out when he is healthy.

Smart move to sit Coleman, get him healthy by October.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

I hear that ECU has two starting LB's out for Saturday. That's a hole there for them so I look to see big runs and passes down the middle.

Yep. It's both of their inside linebackers. One of them has been their leading tackler for the past couple years.

But mind you, each of their backup LBs got 9 tackles last week.

It will be interesting to see how they fare against a much better O-line than they've seen previously against ODU and FAU. They may still make the same number of tackles but they'll be making them farther downfield from the LOS.

Isn't it nice we can even say that this year and not sound delusional. I'm very happy so far with Grimes performance.

Anybody can get 9 tackles when chasing plays down from behind after big gains! Let's go!

Hopefully Loeffler recruits this kid.

The first time I saw that clip, I was dying in laughter for a good 5 minutes. Now I've managed to cut that down to about 4.

Is this a video from Charles Barkley's youth?

Take the shortest route to the ball and arrive in bad humor.

I rewatched that video ten times. I dunno if we should offer him, seems like the kinda kid who dominates because he's just bigger than everyone else.
