After last weeks game, Shane Beamer commented on how "Joel Caleb was pissed at me" for not getting him enough playing time...
In the few snaps he's gotten, Joel has looked pretty smooth at the position and ran tough. His pass protection has looked good, and we all know he can catch out of the backfield.
It's been documented on this site that Trey is still improving at identifying the correct holes - - sometimes he is not patient enough - - in the zone blocking schemes and his Yards After Contact has not been necessarily stellar. Don't get me wrong, Trey is clearly our best option at the position, and is a very good RB, but I would like to see Joel Caleb get a few more snaps.
In my opinion, the RB rotation was a major cluster-F last year, and I'm not entirely confident in Shane's decisions making yet.
On that, I've really enjoyed what I have seen from Mangus and JCC so far, and believe they will shine when given the ball in space. We have some serious weapons in Trey and Joel / JCC and Mangus and I want to see them fully utilized.
