College football's most important stats

Bill Connolley of SBN recently wrote an article under his Study Hall series outlining the five most important stats in college football. Thought it may be worth a look for some number crunchers that reside here as well as some discussion.

Field position battles and turnovers are often mulled over by analysts in pre-game conversations. Standing out for me however is Bill's insight into a team's explosiveness. Beamer repeatedly mentioned wanting to get more production around Logan Thomas the last couple of years for this very purpose. Many here have also lamented the point after replacing the likes of david Wilson, Danny Coale, and Jarrett Boykin. I am not well equipped enough to see the difference between the 2011 season and the last two, but i'd bet we had quite a big drop in this arena, especially around Logan Thomas who led the team in YPP.
