I have never understood the fascination with Top Gun. The bad guy didn't pose a huge threat. The love interest was a scary intimidating woman. Val Kilmer was much better in Tombstone. The theme- a cocky jerk gets his buddy killed before he learns how to be a team player, didn't resound. Basically, besides cool jets and Goose (who they slaughtered), the movie is terrible. Yet, people will go to the mattresses defending it.
