Hokies No. 22 in 2017 Preseason Coaches Poll

Virginia Tech landed at No. 22 in the 2017 preseason coaches poll. The Hokies' week one opponent — West Virginia — is ranked No. 20. There are five ACC teams ranked in total. Tech joins No. 3 Florida State, No. 5 Clemson, No. 17 Louisville, and No. 18 Miami.

Well, except the BCS poll standings that determines the playoff teams. Still made up, but does matter.

They look at the other polls, and then come up with their own standings.

So they matter.

The committee is nothing more than a poll with very few participants.

Considering VT's preseason rankings in the last 4 years I'm happy we're in there...and hopefully the players take it personally that the cousins are ranked two spots higher for some reason unbeknownst to me.
