We were probably all wondering if Cam suffered the injury vs BC or even as early as the ECU game, but man talk about doing it for the team. He had to have been playing through some serious pain at times and still almost put up 1,000 yards this season.
Virginia Tech revealed that their No. 1 wide receiver actually sustained the injury in August but decided to stay on the field all season.
"I felt I had to play and suck it up and tough it out as long as I needed to, and then I just felt after that UVA game that it was the right time, with the long break that we would have preparing for the bowl game," Phillips said according to HokiesSports.com. "I just thought that was the right time for it, but the timetable [for recovery] ended up being longer to come back."
