Is it just me, or does Tony Elliot always seem like he's impersonating Tony Elliot and he's afraid every time the camera is on him somebody is going to figure it out. I swear he said "go Hokies" at the end of his post game interview last week.

Technically UVA has 2 ACC co-championships. But Manny Diaz won a solo ACC Championship before the Hoos won their first. And Manny Diaz won an ACC Championship Game before the Hoos won their first.

Finally broke UVa's 2025 overtime streak, which was 3-0 going into this game.
Eventually, that luck was gonna run out.
UVa did a good job with the portal, and then took advantage of a soft schedule to get to the championship game. Isn't that sortof the college football moneyball? Bottom of the conference to the top? While they executed competently, they weren't truly great. They were lucky not to have faced the top ACC teams, even in a year without many standouts.

Perusing the Sabre before and after the game is quite amusing.
All week, they've been touting themselves as the new kings of the ACC, with teams like Tech forever destined to the bottom tier. When posters mentioned the 2026 class rankings on Weds, others responded that it wasn't concerning as UVa is now the master at portal acquisition. They were slobbering all over CTE. They were destined for the P2, while VT would become a B12 doormat.
After the game, it was a complete reversal. They'll never sniff another CFP, Elliott sucks, their recruiting is in the tank, they can't repeat their portal magic, etc, etc
Harsh reality crushing their ill-fated dreams. I love it!

Le Sabre is fun today. And they're saying that we have mortgaged our entire Olympics sports programs to hire Franklin and that we cannot produce enough revenue to sustain football if he doesn't win big right away. Now, they think Franklin's hire is just like UNC's hiring Belly boy and will end in total disaster forever for the Hokies and that VT shouldn't be ALLOWED to do such a thing. How quickly their tears turn to rage against the Hokies. We'll live forever in their heads, win or lose.

Hoos just don't know how to do football. They don't understand the game. They don't understand what a good coach is, or isn't. They don't understand the landscape. They don't understand how to win, or even lose. It's an emotional roller coaster over on The Sabre.

I found it typically condescending of them, asserting that we didn't have the donor base, nor the student financial wherewithal to sustain what they consider a foolish hire and our foolish dreams of a return to relevance. According to the sabre rattlers, we did no better than UNC in coaching hire, and probably worse. They get a year to blow their horns, or less however much time it takes for them to get over Duke, but I wouldn't bet a train track flattened penny on their chances in Blacksburg next year.
