Isiah Ford: on pace to be first 1k receiver

Lost in all the Fuente news and glee in 12 straight over the 'fighting' TJs is the fact that Isiah Ford caught 6 balls for 121 yards and a TD.

This means he is just 63 yards away from becoming our first 1000 yard receiver as a true sophomore and has 10 TDs on the season still with 1 more game to go

Preach, him and Phillips have been clutch all year

Can't wait to see what he does with competent offensive coaching and play calling

And after today's game, McMillian is only 39 yards short of 1000 rushing.

ESPN has him at 880 yards right now, have they not updated it for his yards today?

Not yet.

This is insane! Think if he actually got the majority of carries early on... I know I know he wasn't "ready" or "seasoned" enough to play that much early but.... what if! I hate to be that guy but on my car ride back home, I couldn't help to think who we have in the stable for RB's next year! Now with Ford kickin a$$, Cam is a few passes short of being up to same stats with his fellow WR and Bucky well being Bucky. I really hope O-Line and QB development work out next season!

I thought it was only for regular season, not counting bowl games.

FIRST DOWN, HOKIES!

NCAA stats books include bowl games after 2000 for all season statistics. School records can be viewed however you want to interpret them.

Oh, word! Then I choose to interpret Andre Davis's stats as being our first 1000-yd receiver and expect Travon to be a Heisman candidate with the 2100 yards of rushing he put up this year.

Also worth noting: Ford finishes the regular season leading the ACC in receiving yards and TD catches.

This is maybe the more impressive part of the equation. Despite the QB carousel, and iffy pass pro we've still managed to do that as a thing. Probably also speaks to our lack of depth in that other teams clearly had more options to spread the ball around to/play.

It is a good thing. I think we are all pleased about it all the same!

Yes, this is nuts. It's about as far under the radar as you can get while topping a conference's skill position stat line. Including having some color commentator telling everyone that Bucky Hodges is our biggest weapon. Maybe he meant literally.

Bucky Rogers caught the first pass of the game yesterday. I never heard his name called again. I wonder why he was not targeted more often; I guess we will have to wait until the 25th century.

My only problems with total stats is we play more games now than when Andre Davis almost broke the record. Not counting the bowl game he did not get his thousand, why should Ford's bowl game count? Yards and/or tds per game is more meaningful in my opinion based on the number of games played

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

As I mentioned above, school records can be interpreted in any way we like and debated as such. If Ford had Vick throwing to him like Davis did, the record would have been straight-up shattered.

If we had MV7 in his prime playing QB for us during most of the ACC years... whoa, Nellie! think of the possibilities!

I was really hoping he would break 1000 before the bowl game. Now I want him to have a higher total than Andre Davis would have if they counted the bowl.

Have a feeling he is going to be the first of many 1k yards receivers for us now that Fuente is leading the ship. I am seriously geeked out knowing the Spread is headed to Blacksburg

First team all acc. Great season

He is a beast, no question. The thought of Lawson getting schooled up this off season and then having Travon, Bucky, Cam, Sam, and Ford to deliver the ball to is so exciting!

Have to believe Jackson loves the Fuente hire as well. The thought of Fuente working on both Lawson and Jackson this summer and implementing the Spread with the RBs, TEs, and WRs we already have is pants stiffeningly awesome.

We are going to have a potentially great offense. I'm trying really hard not to get my hopes up for next year.
