Tbh I hope the second cour of season 1 is better than the first. I got to the end of the first cour and was like "wow, that's all that happened in 12 episodes?"

Season 2 is only twelve episodes long though. This was due to the fact that they didn't have enough animators! I guess with anime being such a big thing in Japan, a shortage was inevitable?
But no worries - Season 3 I've read is coming out March 2018

I look forward to watching it then. I just know there are some really good one-cour shows out there, so to have the first 12 episodes of a really really popular show be like that was kind of strange to me. I guess I just need to keep going.

I watched Season 2 as it aired. I enjoyed it but the pacing was a bit slow for me. Personally I think Season 1 was better as this season got a little predictable.

If you're a fan of anime (just as I am), it seems like the standard / predictable theme of govt' cover-up that you have such as full metal alchemist. I hope that's not the case but it may be.

Alright AXD, I didn't want to leave you hanging. I binge watched season 2 yesterday and really liked it. I saw some of the later twists coming, but I think that was intentional with how heavy handed they were with hints and naming conventions (Christa's friend is named after a norse god for example).
I was pretty happy and entertained, don't think I liked it as much as the first 12 to 15 episodes of season one but I was super intrigued as to what came next so I read about 10-15 chapters of the manga that pick up after season two and woof. I'm predicting a slow season 3.

Season 1 (in general) really took me off guard with how awesome it was, so season 2 was a bit of a let-down. I don't want to read any manga as I'm not a huge fan of spoilers for myself of any sorts, so i'm just going to wait till season 3 comes out.
That being said, I should've seen who the armored titan and the giant titan were (or at least just the armored titan). I'm now going to sneakily be looking at various characters to see if they have any resemblance to certain titans to see if they tip-off who the double agents are.
I'm thinking Eren's dad is the beast-titan.

Colossal titan had no tip off at all in my opinion. I agree and should have seen the Armor Titan but there were a few people that shared the hairstyle.
I will say Season 3 reveals who Eren's father is and is a fair bit different than the first two seasons.

I like it but its hard for me at times to keep up with all the lore, characters, and stuff in general that's going on. I don't want to read the manga (spoilers) so does anyone know a place that's good for filling all those details in without giving future spoilers away?

I mean, you could try the discussion threads for each episode over on their subreddit (Shingeki no Kyojin). Those are usually for that episode and before. Largely, they just have characters pop in and do little introduction as there is supposed to be a degree of confusion in the series. It's one of the main details to show how confusing things get in times of chaos.

If I remember, the first 12 really set up the action throughout the second half. I found it really enjoyable.
