Ole Miss Sanctions (per anonymous source)
Looks like Ole Miss will be hit with an additional year of no bowl, scholarship reductions, and Show-Cause clauses for the involved coaches.
What makes this interesting to us is the fact that extending the bowl ban to two years makes all their players eligible to transfer without having to sit out a year. Were the Hokies in play for any recruits that chose Ole Miss over the last few years that might be a valuable addition to the Hokies, should we manage to flip them?

looks like we offered a RB of theirs a few years ago, he is still on the Ole Miss roster, but is a LB now with minimal playing time.

I guess the NCAA allowing the kids to jump ship without sitting is a form of punishment in its own. I mean if a kid wants to play and get noticed, without the bowl ban, he's leaving. And those aren't typically the 3rd stringers. Sort of cannibalizes the program from the inside while the NCAA doesn't have to take the brunt of the blame for it. Weenies.
Apparently only rising seniors can transfer. From what I can tell via 247, no VT offers on any of the eligible ones.
Some interesting possibilities:
Jordin Ta'amu (QB) - 115 for 173 (66.5%), 1682 pass yards, 11 TD, 4 INT in 6 games
DaMarkus Lodge (WR) - 41 catches for 698 yards and 7 TD in 2017 in 12 games
Javon Patterson (LG)
Sean Rawlings (C)
Jordan Sims (G/C)
Breeland Speaks (DE) - 67 tackles (27 solo), 8 TFL, 7 sacks, 1 FF in 12 games
Victor Evans (DE) - 18 tackles (8 solo), 5 TFL, .5 sacks in 5 games
Markel Winters (DE) - 5 tackles (2 solo), 1.5 TFL in 11 games
Garrald McDowell (DT) - 6 tackles (4 solo), 2 TFL, 1 sack in 6 games
Ross Donelly (DT) - 20 tackles (5 solo) in 9 games
Cam Ordway (LB) - 8 tackles (6 solo) in 12 games
Detric Bing-Dukes (LB) - 24 tackles (9 solo) in 11 games
Javien Hamilton (CB) - 3 INT, 20 tackles (14 solo), 8 PD, 5 BU, 1 KR for 32 yards in 12 games
Ken Webster (CB) - 29 tackles (21 solo), 1.5 TFL, 2 PD, 2 BU in 10 games; 2016 Preseason All-SEC third team before knee injury, from same HS as Jalen Holston
CJ Moore (FS) - 3 INT, 51 tackles (29 solo), 2.5 TFL in 11 games
Zedrick Woods (SS) - 64 tackles (40 solo), 1 TFL in 12 games
I see three O-linemen on that list, all with starting experience. Given our longstanding issues in that area, I'd wager that any SEC-caliber linemen would be a welcome addition. I wonder if any of them are looking to transfer? Seems like a long-shot, though, with two being Mississippi natives and the other hailing from Alabama.
