We're not typically cavalier about definitions around here, but we'll wait until after that @VT_Football game before we give this one a 👍. https://t.co/tmQQh4JNuw— Dictionary.com (@Dictionarycom) August 1, 2018

I'm glad you posted this. I saw it earlier and literally laughed out loud.

I saw Bronco earlier.

I tried to ask him about it.
But he just walked away.
Top gif. All time favorite +1
Wait so tLOL just got burned by Dictionary.com?
Well in Dictionary.com, good to see the fight in you.
EDIT: On further reflection, I didn't know this was a thing I could hope for.
Imagine getting bodybagged by the dictionary.
I thought this was a fake account, but I'm so glad it isn't. Well done dictionary.com, you got some well deserved traffic today
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me...until you get burned by the dictionary
Wait, who the fuck is Nick Martin and why is Deadspin allowing him to do things like a college football top 25 where UVA is #23?!??
Because Deadspin isn't a serious sports blog.
There's clearly a UVa guy there.
Because UVa isn't top 25 in anything football.
They barely even have a Top 25 of ACC-caliber players.
The poll has nothing to do with how good the team is.
It's not a poll, and really was fantasy on someone's part.
I'm guessing some UVa fan weaseled his way in and wrote it.
Uh... what? If you're going to contradict yourself, I'd recommend trying not to do so in the very next sentence.
It's not a serious thread. They do this every year.
The top five usually consist of whatever school Lane Kiffin is at, Liberty, UCF (Cause it pissed Bama fans off), Kansas, and Central Michigan or somebody like that.
Also, browsing this morning and saw La Sabre talking about it. They see it as a good thing yet they don;t realize people votes on the teams that are the shittiest or have the most controversy. In other news, I will now refer to them as Sabre....saBreee (the office)
To summarize the other responses to this and add some additional insight... each year, Deadspin solicits votes for a "top 25" where they will write an article about each of the 25 teams. As it is entirely run by readers of the site, you're going to get a bunch of trolls that pick teams that nobody in their right mind would want to spend time researching and writing about unless you have some connection to them. This means Kansas is a perennial top-5 team in their "rankings". In 2015, they voted UCF #1 who then went 0-12. In 2016, they again voted UCF #1, who improved to 6-7 and made a bowl game. In 2017, they once again voted UCF #1, and UCF went on to win a "national championship".
I'm assuming UCF will once again be #1 in their "rankings", and it will once again have nothing to do with their on-field prowess.
Dictionary.com right now.
My goodness. God bless the social media manager at dictionary.com.
This is delightful 🤣🤣
The verified account too. That was brutal

oh those cute little naïve Hoos
Seriously, surely no one could be so uninformed as to think one of the worst power 5 conference teams in the country is a potential top 25 team, right? The writer must have just gotten Virginia and Virginia Tech confused, right?
And honestly, which would be more embarrassing: mixing up Virginia and Virginia Tech, or actually knowing what you are talking about and coming to the conclusion that Virginia is a top 25 team?
The Deadspin rankings are a joke. They treat it as a joke up front and people vote for awful teams to make the writers write something positive about terrible programs. They do this every year.
Though, that article went way over the top. I mean they said UVa might contend for the Coastal in the next 5 years...
See my post above. The rankings have nothing to do with how good the team is, just a fan poll of who they wanted to see written about.
I appreciated seeing this post first thing in the morning
