OT: Cal CB Bryce Turner dies at 20

Heartbreaking to hear. No official cause of death released but seems like it could have been a workout related incident. Awful to hear and should remind us that this is just a game with real people and real consequences.

Edit: He was 20 years old

If it's a workout thing- I believe that would be the second Cal Footballer to die at Cal because or during a workout...HBO real sports did a piece about lack of training and the poor standards for some ath trainers.. Focus on Cal in particular because of player dying while training...

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

I watched that piece and was surprised by the woeful level of training some of the people are required to have compared to the salaries that they earn and the responsibilities they are given.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

Consider that there are far more kids playing at the high school level, under the direction of people with even less training. It's kind of scary. The weight programs I've observed have verged on the idiotic. Limited water breaks and workouts that are more punishment than constructive are just the tip of the iceberg.
