Wake has people in the stands in fact I've seen a picture with a damn good number of Hokies in the stands. The game isn't "blacked out" it's just available on cable only via RSN channels in most places.

These slow starts on offense always end up costing us. We can't spend a quarter or a half trying different things and figuring out what they are doing on defense at the beginning of each game.

This is the first time this year I've seen our o line get blown backwards on a run play. It has happened several times when we try and stretch to the outside. I noticed it particularly on the right side.

Hendon missed the quick slant to Smith when he forced it to Mitchell. The intercepted pass wouldn't have been a TD anyway... also Smith and Robinson are running lazy, rounded slants. You have to make hard cuts. The route Robinson ran before the FG was horrible and made it easy for the DB to defend.
Obviously still a completely winnable game. But giving up six after a momentum changing drive to tie it up is crushing. And it wasn't even on a broken play....a long grinding drive w/three fourth down conversions....Wake has no respect for our defense and I guess they shouldn't at the moment.

Sadly, we needed more jet sweeps. They were keying on HH and KH, challenging us to do something else. Corny didn't (of course, because he can't adjust). Running those plays with jet sweeps or reverses would have probably hit for big plays and at least kept them from crashing down the line.
I didn't say I was fine with it. Sometimes it just doesn't work out though. I'm not a Corn lover or hater. He's had great games and bad ones.
I just don't see this game on him. Penalties and execution cost us this game imo. If they fire Corn at the end of the season it's no different to me but after every loss everyone is calling for either Corn or Fu's head. Then we win a good one and we are praising them.

I really like what hooker bring but he can't win games on his own until he actually develops as a passer. As long as the run game is working he's great but once we need him to throw he seems to get scared or make really bad reads. The receivers weren't doing him any favors today but he made some awful reads at times. Teams will watch today's film and copy it take away the run and force hooker to throw and we will struggle. The defense did enough this offense has to be more dynamic they cant count on 300+ run yards every game

I'm not at all making an excuse for it, but my guess is you could do a 30 for 30 on what was going on behind the scenes of that team. That was partially Beamer's staff and players. This isn't. Fuente's staff and team just trotted out on the field continued to step in their own dicks against a team that was way less talented and better coached.
