Summary:
- Needs a culture that can withstand roster turnover. Starts with relationships and trust. And being ultra competitive. Feels like Relationships/Trust/Competition is Pry's version of 'they'll get after ya'
- All 5 transfers last year were culture fit, and the inbound players this year are too
- Recruiting the portal is challenging; Pry spends 2-3 years recruiting high school kids, but only 2-3 days, maybe up to a week, recruiting portal guys. Takes a lot due diligence and calling people (coaches, teammates, etc)
- "We all have a goal of winning a championship and going to the playoff" - Pry mentioned in passing, but I like the lofty goals (relative to the last decade of VT footbal)
Bitter also had a paywalled write up with some quotes from Pry - not sure if those comments were from this interview or some other presser/interview. Haven't found anything new on YouTube yet.

Feels like Pry has done more PR/outreach in 1.5 years than Fu did in 6 total. He doesn't shy away from a media opportunity, which is great because we needed that face-of-the-program to get us out there. I also like how he mentions winning an ACC championship and going to the playoff as a program goal - as it should be. I feel like expectations for this program have slowly eroded over the last 20 years with a lot of excuse making. We don't have blueblood resources but we can certainly dominate the ACC as we have done before. We need to get back to that.
He can definitely win a press conference. I really hope he can bring VT back to relevance.
I listened to it a few times. Can't tell if he meant Natty or ACC Championship. Either way, that comment made in passing stood out to me.
I took it as ACC championship and get a playoff berth. I think having a goal of a natty is weird, because that's what everyone wants to do obviously, but only a few can realistically have that shot every year. But I think dominating the ACC and being in the playoff field regularly (which gives you a shot at a natty) is a benchmark for what VT can accomplish operating at max potential.
