Still a little light on details but the Hokies added an international player today. Spela Brecelj is from Slovenia and has played in their National program the last 6 years.
She is a 6'2 Guard/Forward per Hokiesports
Brecelj has extensive experience in international competition, including participation in six European Championships and one World Cup with the Slovenian Youth National Team. She spent the summer representing Slovenia in the FIBA U20 Women's EuroBasket tournament in Portgual and also trained with the Slovenian Senior National Team as they prepared for the 2025 FIBA Women's EuroBasket Championship.
She owns three gold medals at European Championships, including U18B in 2022, and U18A and U20B in 2023.

Just doing a google search of the name, it looks like she played as a 6'0 center in Europe. A fair number of minutes for not many stats. I think she will likely be more of a practice player to learn to play a different position and style of offense?

This shows her getting pretty consistent playing time with double digit scoring in 11 of 24 games in her 24-25 season. Good interior scoring but not very good perimeter shooting. Seemed to be hot or cold on offense averaging 8.7 points per game. Grabbed 6.8 rebounds per game.
We have had some recent success when we have a player who is a good interior scorer.
