As I was killing time at the office I stumbled into 247's prediction.
http://247sports.com/Player/Derrick-Nnadi-19149/PlayerInstitutionPredict...
It appears as though just today a Mr. Nick Polak predicted Nnadi as Hokie. For you folks that follow recruiting closer than me...did something happen today?
At the very least this is interesting since he is clearly considered a UVA lean....

Nnadi had actually listed us as a favorite not long ago at a camp. I will see if I can find the article. We are in really good shape with Nnadi
Has he been on campus yet?
Yes he was there this spring when we had the coaches clinic I believe. I think he is trying to get back with his family this summer (dad is a VT grad)
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he's trying to get back for a visit during the second junior day camp this July.
I'm not positive but rumors are this second camp is going to be loaded with some of the high profile guys still on our board.
Hopefully CJ is there too
Dude must love cologne.
from a free article on 247.
On another forum I am on this was a post:
Totally missed that, but it certainly helps take the sting out of last week...
He has always been my favorite DT. Really hope he becomes a Hokie
If we could get Nnandi and/or Brown and/or Street I would prob do a little dance and forget all about last week.
Heck, I'd forget all about last season.
Prob more like Nnadi and/or Ricky Walker and/or Aniebonam
Are Eli Harold and Nnadi good friends? They're both from Ocean Lakes HS & I assume they both played on the d-line at the same time
I imagine it's going to be hard to break that possible camaraderie.
They might be but it looked like there was some good twitter chatter between Bucky and Nnadi. It appears as though they are friends.
I saw some of that too, Nnadi was talking about how they won't be able to chase Bucky or something. I'm hoping thats a pull for us.
I said it on another topic but that kid looks mean real mean...I think he will be a beast, hope he comes to Tech
That was me who quoted 4bird .. Nnadi did name vt his leader and yes--he and eli are close but he was quoted saying that eli told him not to go to a school just based on friends..it is also believed by many that he and brown will likely not end up in the same spot..its very likely a 2-team race (us and uva) and I'd give us an edge
New prediction in the crystal ball has VT.
Honestly, judging by some of the stuff Eli has said, it sounds like he doesn't enjoy being in Charlottesville. I don't know if that means he doesn't like UVA, but he doesn't seem to like the town.
He should keep it up! He could turn into one of our top recruiters!
Are there other comments/examples you can give for this? I'm just curious as I hadn't heard this.
Most of it was just on his Twitter. It was a while ago and I can't find his Twitter right now.
To all other schools recruiting him:

I love this. Can't stop cracking up.
Check out the quote from Nnadi http://blogs.roanoke.com/insiders/2013/06/notebook-plus-commitments-from...
Love it, I don't think UVA is much on his mind anymore.
I bet he commits in the next couple of days...
Would really make my off season right now
Probably just trying to figure out what he' going to have for dinner though...
Embrace The Decision, Derrick. Join Hokie Nation.
Not sure if I should +1 because of the comparison to LeBron James, or if I should -1 because of the comparison to LeBron James...
I hate that people hate on Lebron so much. He's made some PR mistakes, yes, but who doesn't when you grow up in the public eye. Furthermore, he's backed up his words with his play on the court. And I can't stand when people hate because "he teamed up with Wade/Bosh." He put himself in the best situation to win rings - don't see what's so wrong with that, especially when the primary argument against him is his lack of rings. I just don't get it.
but couldnt we use the same argument to say bill russell was better than mj? give lbj a few years, he'll catch up.
It's not that I hate the guy, I just think he's the most arrogant sumbitch this side of Boston. I get that he's been able to back up his talk on the hardcourt, but that still doesn't mean he has to be so cocky.
I don't hate him for going to Miami. I root against him because of the ridiculous show that he (and ESPN) put on to announce his destination. I dislike that he has his 2 rings now, but he, Bosh and Wade have definitely earned them.
Cocky? I just don't get that. Sure, the announcement show was a ridiculous gimmick, but you have to think that ESPN and a lot of pocketbooks were pushing for it. I think he has always come across as humble as a person with his talent can be. If you compare him with MJ, Magic, Kobe, or any of the other great players, he is no more arrogant in my eyes. He also carries himself incredibly well and is very well-spoken for someone who never went to college.
"I think he has always come across as humble...." I like that statement because it's real easy for us to judge and say he's cocky when we're not in his shoes. He's been crowned "King" since he was 17 years old (and he didnt give himself the title). What do you expect when you're being called the next best thing before you even get drafted. Like treadmill said below, I'd be way cockier if I was him. Hell I was cocky playing football on the drillfield and that was all for fun. If I had money, legacy, critics, history, fame, etc to gain then I'd be cocky too. He's deserved to be cocky. Lastly, while the decision show was a bad publicity stunt, at least the proceeds went to boys n girls clubs of America, I like how everyone conveniently leaves that part out. Regardless, he's the best thing we've seen since Jordan and I wish people would embrace it more instead of turning their noses up at him. Rant over.
Where's Joe with his "Thumbs-Up-Chuck" gif?
He could've done what Dwight and Carmelo did, but because they don't win no one cares. In my opinion those are two characters who epitomize the word selfish and cocky.
He has a tattoo on his back that says "CHOSEN1". Yea, he's a cocky POS.
1) I f*cking love that clip, "IT'S THE ONLY ARGUMENT I NEED SHAWN!!!!"
2) Lebron will get his rings.
3) If I was that good at anything I'd be a much bigger dick than he is. I root against the Heat, but props to the kid.
Holy hell he's a kid. Younger than I am. Where did my life go.
yeah .. i have no problem with lebron. he's the best player in the nba, has proved it, is an unselfish player (kobe could learn a lot from him in this regard, dwayne wade obviously finally has). considering the circumstances, he's not that cocky. even though it is a little staged, he always gives props to his team before himself and is harder on himself than anyone else.
do it Nnadi!!!
So Nnadi did NOT get invited to the opening. I don't know if he was expecting to or not, but he's done very well at camps so it comes as somewhat of a surprise to me. I'm not complaining, though, because it will probably keep him motivated and under the radar.
For those wondering, Andrew Ford, CJ Reavis, and Javon Harrison were invited to the event. It's supposed to be for the top 150 players in the 2014 class (with the exception of some 2015 ballers) so kudos to them.
Not sure how accurate this is, but this was in the comments section of the roster list on 247:
"Right now they are just giving out a handful of invites at each Nike Camp. They will add more after the Nike Camps and add a few 2015 kids and the list will ultimately grow to around 150. We will keep track of the additions here"
+1 to what vtfly wrote, but also consider the fact that Nnadi isn't under *anyone's* radar. The guy is very, very good, and sometimes there just aren't enough slots at particular positions for invite-only camps like The Opening, so someone gets the shaft-O. Silver lining to him not getting invited: no risk of injury if you're not at the camp :) I seem to remember a DB or WR a couple of years back shredding an ACL or ankle at one of the 7 on 7 camps prior to his senior year. But, yeah, safe to say just about every major school in the country knows who Nnadi is. And he fits our stunting/slanting D-line scheme *perfectly*.
I meant "under the radar" more as if went and dominated, the big schools would make a bigger push for him. But yeah I guess we will just have to wait and see how things turn out.
Cj actually had a pulled hammy a week or two ago.
Last I saw on twitter, Nnadi was pretty pissed about the snub. He was going back and forth with CJ about it.
Yep ...he is openly irritated about it and is openly pissed that's he's not considered a 5* and the second best dt in the state
If this isn't best canvas for Foster to create another masterpiece, I don't know what is. I will take a pissed off, mad at the world, chip on his shoulder, ready to prove the world wrong kid any day of the week. All you have to do is commit Mr. Nnadi and your destiny awaits.
Agreed.
I'm sure if someone asked Nnadi how he feels about all of this his response would be...
Looks like its between us and FSU
No UVA?
Nope, Ohio State might be in the running as well however
source? I want to get excited about this, but also want to know how reliable the info is...
A 247 article behind a paywall. Long story short, VT and FSU are his favorites, OSU is high on his list, and he doesn't plan on committing for a long time. Article says October is when he'll start narrowing things down and he might wait until signing day to actually commit.
Well that's good news, I guess. Bummer that we need to wait that long, but whatever.
Some PSU insider predicted Penn State on 6-26 lol
Evan and another dude have him at VT now. Seems its between us and FSU.
If Brown doesn't commit to VT, they better get Nnandi or all that good will that Beamer has fostered with the changes in the coaching staff will get chewed up real quick.
Very true...I can accept elite offensive talent escaping our grasp if only because of our previous staff's lack of prestige and the uncertainty with the new staff. I cannot accept us letting elite in-state defensive talent completely escape us.
With Brown possibly announce becoming a hoo soon, maybe this will be good for Nnadi. He'll become a hokie and bust out of browns shadow, and be able to show him what winning championships is like.
From what I've seen and read, Nnadi is the more complete player.
Derrick Nnadi in a few years to all the UVA fans who still want to brag about how they at least have culture:
Nnadi is said to have a top 2 now...anybody know who they are?????
I'd presume it's us and FSU?
Yeah between us and FSU. Funny because his crystal ball is still saying UVA.
24/7 doesn't seem to know a damn thing about Nnadi. I like it better that way.
Hopefully this will keep a chip on the big fella's shoulder all the way to Bud's meeting room.
wouldn't pay much attention to that crystal ball. 75% of those guys will change it 10 minutes before he announces (when the cat's already out of the bag). we seem to be in much better shaped right now than uva with him .. MUCH BETTER. the optimism in me says that we get both nnadi and walker.
Some one get The whole staff on a jet to Hampton and va beach because this is a serious must to get these two...
Derrick Nnadi. If you read this, come to Blacksburg, become legend. Thank you for the forum.
Anyone found it interesting that we have to fight off PSU for these two?
Speaking of PSU...I've always had this hunch that the reason the Big10 snatched UMD and Rutgers was because the ACC was having some discreet discussions with PSU about them joining us. Something about the timing and the comments that the Big10 commish made. Anyways, that was entirely random.
As much as I'd like that seems like very wishful thinking.
PSU has always been considered the left out, geographically and since it was one of the latter to be in the B1G. Definitely rumored that talks were happening as it would have been a great fit. The sandusky case was said to hurt, as the ACC didnt want to bring that scandal in. Supposedly the B1G added UMD and SU to try and give them more local opponents. Shame, would have been huge.
I've heard this, too. Multiple coworkers up here brought up the idea to me, and I was all for it. PSU has always been the ignored, little-brother-type school in the Big Ten, with Michigan and OSU being the only two that really matter. Once the NCAA hammered PSU for the Sandusky thing the Big Ten came down with their own punishments, infuriating the Nittany Lion alumni. The rumors I had heard is that it would have been a serious possibility if it weren't for the Big Ten grant of rights agreement, which naturally made PSU worthless to the ACC. That, and the fact that PSU has very recently invested a lot of money into Big Ten-style sports (ice hockey, men's wrestling, women's volleyball, etc) instead of ACC-style sports (basketball, soccer, lacrosse) has made PSU a slightly worse fit for the conference.
I would have loved to have both my schools (current grad student at PSU) in the same conference and had my Hokies visit Beaver Stadium (although you only get about 8 inches of bench space for your 'seat', which is why the stadium 'holds' "110,000" fans). I would get a student ticket and sit in the S, then rip off my white shirt and display a single spec of orange in a sea of white. Awesome. Awesome to the max.
Having PSU would've helped the ACC as a wrestling conference also. I look for tech to be doing big things on the mat in a couple years.
PSUs wrestling and women's volleyball would definitely fit into the ACC. ACC had at least three teams ranked in both sports throughout most of last season iirc. Sanderson vs Dresser every year would be a hell of a coaching match up.
I would be thrilled with a home and home with Penn State, but that would not make our new conference opponents at Pitt very happy.
Especially if JoePa was still alive and coaching. Legend versus Legend. Why not?
I think they're cool with it. Just talked to the resident Penn State/Pitt historian here at work and he says the grudge between the two schools goes back a long way. Apparently, back when Paterno was lobbying for an East Coast conference, Pitt was one of the schools that put the kibosh on it, so PSU joined the Big Ten instead. Later, Penn State wanted to have a home-home-away series with Pitt, which Pitt didn't like (obviously), but Penn State has always wanted about 900 home games per season (big stadium, lots of ticket money). Pitt, at one point, made it so that, in order to get a ticket for the PSU game, you had to buy season tickets. Since Pitt barely has fans (yellow out every game!), this would have meant PSU fans subsidizing the Pitt program. These two schools continue to mess with each other.
But Pitt plays Penn State in 2016, and from what my friend says, this might be the start of renewing the series. Now that Paterno and the old AD are gone, there are few roadblocks to playing again.
My sister went to PSU and one of my good friends goes there so I'd love to play them in a series. I went to one of their games last year and let me just tell you that watching a game at Beaver Stadium is a must for any college football fan. Great atmosphere and the students really know how to cheer on their team. Would be a fun series for sure.
Any real updates with Nnadi? This visual that brown is sitting with a UVA hat on his head recruiting other players to go to LOLUVA is not settling well with me.
I am also nauseous in a Ahmad Brooks, Kai Parham kind of way
I believe he's camping at VT in July. We'll probably know what's what after that.
