1 - Frank Beamer, Virginia Tech - Entering his 25th year with the Hokies, Beamer might be the best coach of this era to not win a national championship. His teams are always in the hunt, are incredibly consistent, sound is almost everything they do, and the program is as solid as any in the nation.
Glossing right over Jones' ranking of Beamer as the best coach in the ACC, look it's the orange helmets, and we're we were practicing in them. Could they be worn with our orange pants? Will they be worn against UNC, which according to my season tickets is this year's Orange Effect? Draw your own conclusions. False Alarm. Sorry about that, as eHOKIEt pointed out, it's an old picture from an Orange Bowl practice.

Hopefully we can keep those on the practice field and don't see them on gameday.

Anything that keeps the embarrassment of the second half of last year's Orange Bowl fresh in their minds during camp is a good thing. Perhaps the JMU combo should be worn in the lead up to App State?
I'll be there on Thurs night against Carolina, and the players' heads is the one place that I would NOT like to see that much orange.
I know we purchased all new helmets tbis year...

Could we just be using last year's never repainted helmets for.practice?
We auctioned off the Orange Bowl Helmets

So I would assume they are new.
Orange Bowl Practice
Orange Bowl Practice
This is definitely an old pic from an Orange Bowl practice. Chris Drager is wearing a maroon jersey for the defense, while Michael Via is wearing a white jersey. If this were 2011, they would be wearing the same color jersey. Also, you can see Kenny Younger (#31) in the background, who has since graduated.

Thanks for keeping me honest.

It's kind of hard to imagine Jimbo being the second best coach in the league, and London the second worst, after one season. I'd have Dabo 11th as he's failed spectacularly with tons of talent at his disposal. Cutcliffe and Grobe need to be higher as they're doing more with less. Golden and Edsall need to be a bit lower, too much stock for what they did against lesser competition.
Can we talk about the angle

It is the result of burns and skin grafts when he was a teenager.
As to the list Beamer is
As to the list Beamer is without question the best coach in the ACC at the moment and since the league expanded in 2004- all other schools have changed coaches minus Wake and some even twice. I also agree that JF is not the second best coach in the league- that has to be a product of the media's love for FSU and the Atlantic Division title last year. I did also love the point made about CPJ- he "won" an ACC title with Gailey's players and this year will be key. In fact, in my opinion, he should've been second on the list with an asterisk denoting a "dependent on this year's results". If GT has a crappy season with HIS recruits specifically chosen for their ability to run his option-based offense then that ole' seat may start getting a tad too warm for comfort. How sweet would it be if CPJ was fired and Groh took over GT? He would set them back ten years just as he did to UVA and with Miami's issues? Man I am starting to get excited for the season.
They should wear those helmets in practice every day
They should wear those helmets in practice every day
To remind them of what a sorry performance they had. And then they should celebrate the last practice by destroying those helmets forever. For-evvv-errrrrrr
