Because we're all Sunday morning quarterbacks.
Notre Dame expected to play at least two of Clemson, Miami and FSU each season as part of new ACC/ESPN deal.
ESPN is exercising its option to extend its television rights contract with the Atlantic Coast Conference — which initially ran until 2027 — through 2036, Dellenger reported Thursday morning. Part of that extension, per Dellenger, stipulates that the Irish will face the traditional football powers of the ACC more often.
The league's biggest brands — Florida State, Miami and Clemson — are expected to play more football games regularly with Notre Dame," Dellenger wrote. "The Irish are expected to play, at the very least, two of the three each season in a rotation.

Shock: Another Eligibility Lawsuit
A Wisconsin DB Nyzier Fourqurean is now suing the NCAA claiming because he played at DII Grand Valley State, he deserves extended eligibility.
This is quoted directly from the Lawsuit:
"Preventing college student-athletes like plaintiff that attended Division II schools from competing in a third and fourth year of NCAA Division I football due to prior attendance at a Division II school, therefore limiting their economic opportunities to participate in the NIL marketplace available to Division I athletes, and otherwise unreasonably restrain competition in violation of Section 1 of the Sherman Act,"

Initial Guess on How the 2025 Defense will look...
Three man down linemen, with a nose, a 3 tech to the side of the jack LB and a five/seven tech to the WILL linebacker side. I expect the nose to be Gilliam/Priester/Copeland, with Nash, Copeland, and Laws at the 3 tech and Burgos, Stevens, and Abbey at the field side DE.
Jack linebacker is a hybrid stand up DE/LB, standing up on the edge ala Fred Dean, Rickey Jackson, Bryce Paup, Kevin Greene, etc. Bell and Djonkman fit that mold, and Stevens, as a former LB, could play it as well.
Mike is alone between the tackles. Woodson I think gets that spot. He still has to fit, but has to move laterally and step into the hole.

After 37 games, certainly, you'd have to think it should be quite obvious/clear by now... right?

EDIT: Hokie Transfer Pickup in Legal "Hot Water"
EDIT: Didn't realize it was behind a paywall - Flea of Red Hot Chilli Peppers' favorite Virginia Tech transfer pickup (probably), who happens to share the same initials as a beleaguered Hokie football administrator, is in a little legal "hot water" involving jazz grass.
Two Deep Podcast: Discussing VT's Transfer Portal Additions
I stopped by the TwoDeepVT podcast last night and shared some thoughts on the #Hokies transfer class. To listen:
Some highlights:
1) Even though all insiders on the topic indicate that James Djonkman will move to the edge, I struggle with one of the most productive run stopping MIKE linebackers in the country and moving them to the edge, especially when MIKE play was a defensive weakness. Djonkman has positional flexibility, which is a theme of this transfer group. I hope they use him at MIKE and then move him to the edge on passing downs, rather than just making him part of a five man rotation at end.

2025 Ohio St vs Notre Dame. Discuss.
ACC considering changes to ACC Football Championship
Phillips said the ACC could consider giving its regular-season champion a bye, and have the teams that finish second or third in the league standings play in the ACC championship game.
He said another possibility is having the top 4 teams play on the final weekend of the regular season: first place versus fourth place, and second place vs. third place, with the winners playing the following weekend in the ACC championship game.
So regular season champion gets the trophy or the winner of 2nd/3rd? What an upside down world we have let E$PN turn this sport into.
2025 Depth Chart
Got bored this morning and put together a projected depth chart. Feel free call out edits if there's an obvious mistake. Some notes:
(1) I didn't want to separate WRs into XYZs
(2) Way too much work to put in eligibility
(3) Prioritized transfers starting over incumbents (otherwise, why would you want to transfer with the intention of being a backup)
(4) Obviously LBs/DBs is a bit of question mark so I did my best...moved Woodson to MLB, Flowers to STAR, made IBM a starter (even though he's better suited as a nickel CB).
(5) Will edit as we move along
Have fun messing around with it:
Dept of Ed: NIL payouts from school are "financial assistance" which are subject to Title IX.
Must be made available proportionally to male and female athletes.
Significant news out today from the US Dept. of Ed, which classifies future revenue distributions from a school to an athlete for his/her NIL rights as "financial assistance," which "must be made proportionately available to male and female athletes" or risk violating Title IX.— Ross Dellenger (@RossDellenger) January 16, 2025
Looks like the collectives will still be in business.
