Because we're all Sunday morning quarterbacks.
Long time lurker, first time poster. It occurred to me that an appropriate nickname for Brewer might be "The Fisher". Brewer is a obviously a fisherman, but he also shares many qualities of the animal of the same name, that likes to hang out in the deep woods, is deceptively cute but still a deadly predator, and will scavenge what it can when no meat on the hoof is readily available.

Congratulations Hokies on the win. It is a big win for VT historically, even if the Buckeyes didn't look like an historically great team on Saturday night. The Hokies certainly had a great deal to do with how bad the Bucks looked though. VT defeated Ohio State in every single phase of the game without question. The entire OSU team, from the head coach down, was woefully under-prepared for the attack that VT brought to Columbus. Very, very bold and impressive defense. And I believe you have found yourselves a quarterback. I have always admired Beamer Ball and great defense, but I believe I'll also be channel surfing toward VT games this year in order to watch that heady QB.

I know we've talked about a ton of guys who have provided to the resurgence (Brewer, Hodges, Ford, Williams, McKenzie), but I wanna give a shoutout to Derek Di Nardo for really stepping his game up this year. He's flat out flying all over the place. Being in the right spot at the right time. Making key plays (no pun intended). I had banked on Van Dyke being the WHIP but if Di Nardo can continue to play like this, it might not make a difference. Add him with Williams and Clarke and our LB's are looking super strong on an already loaded defense. Keep it up young buck!!!

Passed Corey Marshall on campus this morning in a walking boot and it looked like he had a considerable limp. Hopefully it's not that serious but we will see what develops in the coming days.

Anybody at the game notice the announcer kept crediting J.C. Coleman with Ekanem's stats? It was hilarious.

Grabbed this from an article (a free one) over at TSL. Pretty nice to see.
Dadi Nicolas: National Defensive Player of the Week by 247Sports. Nicolas finished with three tackles for loss, two sacks, and five quarterback hurries.
Deon Clarke: Techs junior linebacker was named the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week. He had 10 tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, broke up a pass, and had two quarterback hurries.
The Hokies also swept the defensive awards in the ACC this week. Nicolas was named defensive lineman of the week, Clarke is linebacker of the week, while Kyshoen Jarrett is defensive back of the week.

You have come to our community and acted with incredible class, both before and after the game. From all account, those of us that went to Columbus found your fans there to be just as courteous.
I am humbled by your sportsmanship, and hope that all of us can show just as much grace next year when you come to our house.
I apologize for any of our fans that are trolling your website. Obviously, every group of people is cursed with its share of malcontents who take pleasure in being jackasses.
We do our best in the TKP comments section to self-police, but I'm sure I don't need to tell you just how futile that often is.

I have been a VT fan since I attended the university in 2002. I have gone through Bryan Randell, MV2, Sean Glennon, Tyrod Taylor and Logan Thomas. Everyone of these QBs took a bit of time to gain faith in them. Michael Brewer came onto the campus in May, won the starting job with one week till the season starter, and by the second quarter of the OSU game, I have never felt more relaxed with a QB at the VT helm. Compared to Logan he's a shrimp. Compared to Tyrod he's a sloth. But to me he's just so relaxed and under control that it rubs off on me (no homo) and I love it. In only two games he's become one of my favorite VT QBs. Anyone else feel this sentiment?

I thought JC Coleman was appropriately used and performed well in his touches, finally. He wasn't used up the middle or anything like that. Was happy to see the way he was used.
Was a little surprised that Marshawn got so many more carries than Shai especially after last week. However who knows how practice went this week between them. Even though there was really no running room up the middle for anyone I thought they still ran strong. Still took a couple f defenders to get Marshawn down each carry.

After dominating the Ohio State Buckeyes in their home field, ESPN is changing its tune by putting the Virginia Tech Hokies in the NCAA playing picture. While it is great to be in the playoff conversation, the Hokies are better off focusing on the next game instead of listening to the hype.

Is Virginia Tech in the Play-Off Picture?

I loved last Saturday night. Everyone is still talking about it and rightfully so, but I hope the team has moved on and has shifted its focus to ECU. We are a very young team and I'm sure they are still on a high. The team's leadership (Brewer, Maddy, Jarrett, etc.) has to bring the team back down to earth and get them ready for ECU.
ECU is a very solid team and can knock us off if we're not ready. Especially for a noon kickoff. Lane has to be rocking and we need to jump on them early!

Not sure if you fine analysts on TKP plan on doing it, but would love to get an analysis on the Double Eagle scheme Foster used against OSU -- you know, the usual pro's (is it always good for option-style attacks? If so how come we've never used it before against GT?) and Cons (if you were the Urb, how would you have exploited our D).
Thanks!

This year Virginia Tech has scored every time we've made it into the redzone. If I recall correctly (please correct me if wrong):
- 3 TDs and 2 FGs from 5 redzone attempts against W&M
- 4 TDs from 4 redzone attempts against OSU
I've never seen us so efficient in the redzone.
