Virginia Tech announced Johnny Hamilton is suspended. Buzz Williams and the athletic department released a short statement via Twitter.
"Head coach Buzz Williams and VT Athletics have suspended junior center Johnny Hamilton from game competition for an undisclosed period until his academic performance improves."
Hamilton transferred to Virginia Tech from Jacksonville College, a junior college in Jacksonville, Texas. Hamilton played in all 7 of the Hokies' games thus far this season, and he's averaged 4.1 points, 4.1 rebounds with 12 blocks in 75 minutes on the court.

Sucks, but props to Buzz for holding players accountable. Hopefully Hamilton can get himself together and we get to see him by ACC play.
I really thought he'd be are best big man by far by the end of the season. Hopefully this can somehow be fixed quickly because it's hurting the team.
Well, that's totally not what we need. But I guess on the bright side we are actually suspending players instead for academic reasons instead of going by the UNC way of academic excellence.
Good for Buzz, glad to see a Student Athlete being held to standards
At least Satch looked to be somewhat improved during the Northwestern Game, and we also have Blackshear this go around.
Agreed. I suspected something was up when Hamilton played so little and was pulled so quickly when it seemed like we really could've used his presence vs Northwestern.
Glad Pierce stayed prepared and looked ready to go. Hamilton blocked a lot of shots in limited minutes hopefully Henry can give us some of that in the meantime.
