The Hokies are heating up on the recruiting trail.
On Tuesday night, Virginia Tech added another commitment to its 2019 recruiting class. Tight end Nick Gallo opted for the Hokies over regional offers from Duke, Maryland, Boston College, and Pittsburgh among other Power 5 programs.
Gallo detailed the reasoning behind his decision to 247Sports.
"I felt very comfortable – with the staff down there being one of the biggest things," Gallo said. "It was hard to compare other schools, and then look back and compare it back to how well I knew everyone at Virginia Tech.
"I also felt that VT is going to put me in the best position to maximize my potential and win as many football games as possible, and that was something I really looked forward to."
Gallo is the younger brother of former Tech center Eric Gallo.
The 247Sports Composite rates the 6-4, 225 pound Council Rock South HS (Holland, PA) product as a 3-star (0.8721) tight end.
3-star 2019 DT Norell Pollard went public with his Virginia Tech commitment on Monday night. The Hokies added 4-star WR Jaden Payoute to their class on June 10. And 4-star CB Cam'Ron Kelly turned heads when the 757 standout pledged to Tech back on June 7. With 3-star OG Riley Simonds scheduled to announce his decision on June 20, and 3-star WR Tayvion Robinson teasing "big news" on June 24, both priority recruits for Tech, the Hokies are poised to close out June with a bang.
